Homeland: Starts Tonight On Showtime (Spoilers?)

Yes, they really should have come up with a plausible reason for Carrie to be there. I can’t think of one.

So in this weeks torturing Brody news: not content to merely have him go through withdrawal, they have him take an illegal drug that makes heroin withdrawal extra horrible. And his daughter tried and kill herself because of him. And try and drown him. And then make him jog. And then off to a suicide mission…

Anyways, enjoying the season. Sauls grand plan to bring peace to the Middle East is kinda wacky, but I try not to think about it too hard.

I can’t tell if we’re supposed to support Saul because he’s the sober forward thinking patriot doing what has to be done to protect our country from the fanatics or see him as a fossil hanging onto power and his plan is a crazy pipe dream that’ll cause even more blowback.

Considering the show’s continued confluence of Sunni and Shia terrorist organizations and how easily Saul mollified Carrie with the rah-rah-America speech I’m thinking the former. I’m sure Carrie is still mostly in it for Brody, but it seems like she hasn’t been disillusioned by the grand strategy. If she was she’d have called Saul out on his BS and then he’d say how she has to go along if she wants to see Brody again, or something to that effect.

Carrie should start a drinking-and-smoking-while-pregnant club with Skyler White.

I like how she was able to somehow abscond with the CIA’s top asset right from under their nose. As far as anyone knew they wouldn’t be coming back.

What’s more…they blackmailed the future director into giving them more time so that the super duper withdrawal drug wasn’t necessary.

As it is, who is the mole? Are we going to find out this season? If ever?

Please tell me its Saul.

Yeah, that was not well-written. Likewise with Saul shaking his head at Carrie about how He Just Doesn’t Know Her Anymore. Come on. She’s never been the obedient minion–she’s always gone off on her own bat. This isn’t a new development.

I hope the writing improves. I still care about this show.

The writers need to make sure this doesn’t turn into 24. That’s not going to be easy.

I still love the show, some episodes are better than others , but I love how that dickwad Senator is
Just so Cheneyesque

I still think that F Murray Abraham guy is shady even though he seems to be on Saul’s side now.

I don’t think he was in position to do any moling in the early episodes though was he?

Tonight was INTENSE… Brodie’s got nothing to lose… Javatti is one mean MOFO, Seems like Senator Dickwad is coming around. I thought it was one of those great episodes watching infrared was incredible.

Yes - tonight was good! Plus, with only two more episodes this season, my guess is the next two episodes ought to be quite spectacular.

Excellent episode, especially since we didn’t have to watch the wife and daughter for a change. My only minor nitpick is when Saul takes the senator into the secure vault. He punches in a code, scans his hand and pulls the door open. Immediate next scene, they’ve entered the room and Saul is pushing the door closed. :stuck_out_tongue:

Was it just me or did the tracers from the Iraqi forces look super fake?

How could those Iranian soldiers suddenly appear out of nowhere? We just got through watching how meticulously everything that was happening on the ground was being monitored at CIA HQ then, BAM! a wizard materializes a whole troop of Iranian soldiers out of thin air.

That really confused me too. Aren’t they monitoring heat signatures all over the place? Let’s assume (doubtful) that they had been there in their trucks so long that the engines were cold and therefore nobody noticed them there…what about their bodies?

I knew that guy that was captured with Brody was going to have to get killed. I actually thought they were setting Brody up to do it himself, so when he actually did get shot was sort of a surprise.

It is possible to defeat IR and they are in a position where they face such a threat, so its not surprising that they have the necessary equipment.

It’s possible for several vehicles and troops to defeat drone IR / motion detection while driving to a location 300 yards from the where the drone and their satellites were watching the team intently?

Or do you mean they were already there, draping their big trucks and themselves in mylar sheets or something to defeat the IR, at that specific spot along their 900 mile border with Iraq, waiting for someone to run right up in front of their searchlights in the middle of the night?

I respect your fan wank, but c’mon - that was a stupid plot hole, another of many this season.

Well, only one more episode next week.

This week’s sure did move along at quite the clip - although I am trying to figure out how Carrie just blithely saunters into Tehran and camps out at that five star hotel without a whole bunch of questions and red flags. I mean, it is not like she can blend in with the hoards of tourists from the UK and Australia.

Still - the season finale should be good - seeing how they get Brody out of there and where they go and land up and what happens next to set up the next season.

I do like the idea of them now having “their guy” in Iran - although my guess is he will not exactly be all that cooperative and warm and fuzzy.

Yeah, they might as well have had him rhapsodize about the little farmhouse with the white picket fence he was going to build for his brand-new bride as soon as he got home.
