HouDope 5 consumated

This is the fifth time I’ve reported in as secretary of the Houston Dope and I’m glad to report a nice turn out.

Gathered were:
Ayesha
The LION
Little Nemo
Cessandra
Lance
(soon-to-be-poster)
TheNerd
Groovy Side
(soon-to-be-poster)
Irishman
Sealemon88

Hmmm…, I contemplate the notes. I don’t know if I’ll be typing them up tonight. Seven beers later, I’ll be doing well if the bolding above works out correctly. Perhaps I need to let them age for a day.

Will be back.

Uh, it seems I forgot somone.

Yeah? So? What happened? Who got the drunkest?

~Kyla

“Anger is what makes America great.”

Actually Kyla it was commented several times that this was the soberest meeting that had been held.

Uh, you need to consider whether you really want “Lance” to become a poster.

What did you guys think of him, anyway?

Cessandra

I would’ve gotten away with it, too, if it weren’t for those meddling kids!

Who got the drunkest? Hmmm, that would be a tie between Lion’s 8 wine coolers, and beatles 7 beers.

As Little Nemo pointed out it was our soberest (is that a word ?) meeting yet. Don’t worry, I’m sure we will make up for it on the 29th.

What did I think of Lance ? Well he’s cute, in a very young sort of way. He also seems to be intelligent, and was rather witty, IRL anyway.

He could add to the board, heck we’ll teach him right. And if he misbehaves, well then, at the next ouDope meeting, I’ll just sit on him. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ayesha

I had a great time at the latest meeting and enjoyed having the chance to meet all the new people who showed up.
I am also looking forward to HouDope5.1 next Saturday night and to meeting Manhattan and Zyada.

Peace

Ahem, beatle you have the notes so where is the rest of this ? I don’t want to have to ground you !

Now to my impressions of the other posters who showed up.

Cessandra, was very sweet, and she is very cute (so you had better be very nice to her Lance), even if she is no bigger around than my leg.

LittleNemo, he is now # 1 on my who would you date if you were single list .

Irishman, Very intersting man, and he likes catfish !

TheNerd, very quiet, but thats understandable
I think I freaked him out because I kept touching his arm while talking to him. Hey I am a very touchy feely kind of person.

Groovyside, also very quiet, and reserved. I think we may have frightened her.

We were very well behaved for dopers.

Sealemon, well what can I say besides sillymon lived up to his name.

beatle, was as always a gentleman, BTW beatle what will it cost me to keep the mention of my toe and it’s little friend out of the post ?
There was a news crew there so we made nice,
we didn’t want Unca Cecil to see the news today and hear- Dopers take over local sports bar/seafood resturant film at 11.

Ayesha

I showed up too late to get to meet Cess, Lance, Grrovy Side, or TheNerd (Workin’, don’tcha know), But I was honored to finally get to meet Little Nemo.

I Got to the place just in time to catch the tail end of the gathering, so I’m hoping everyone makes it on the 29th!

IrishMan was cool, it was very nice to meet him.

Beatle, Ayesha and the Lion, well, hell, they know they rock!

I think it should be noted that not only was this the most sober of the meetings, but it was also the largest of any of the SDMB meeting, IIRC.

I really wish I had been able to get there sooner!

You say “cheesy” like that’s a BAD thing.

Hey, that sounds useful. Are you available for our next fight?

Sealemon, I am so sorry we missed you! I wanted to meet ya, but I promised to go to a wrestling thing with Carl (Lance, whatever) in exchange for him coming to the meeting with me. And I won’t be there next weekend, either. :frowning:

Cessandra

I would’ve gotten away with it, too, if it weren’t for those meddling kids!

Butter knife on the wine glass (Oh! It’s not crystal)…Ahem, the minutes (stream of consciousness - almost):

Krispy is OK now

  • who: Lance is new, Groovy Side is new

  • No Jack-in-the-Box in New York!

  • Old AOL board nastiness (newbie beware)

  • We would like to edit please!

  • Ayesha likes smilies (other than that, Chief’s OK w/her)

  • Who won? What game?

  • Upgrade fatigue and the end of computer development (as per “Lance”)

  • Your cheatin’ heart, your lyin’ ways (& payback)

  • Why is Tuscon?

  • Sue you, sue me…

  • Tornados are memorable

  • swimming and fishing and doing the dam (I never come back from the store empty handed)

  • [ Ayesha has requested permanent suppression of this entry, bribery may be required - Ed. ]

  • Beatle’s crime spree

  • Ayesha’s life of crime - fingerprints on the gun.

  • Real Dolls

  • A real doll: In memory of Wendy O. Williams

  • prison tales (a day at the office)

  • A horse is a horse, of course, of course, until she’s starts, you know, comin’ on to you. That look in her eye, and…hey don’t call her a nag, she like a wife to me!!! Waited for me until I got out last time. Whaddya mean I can’t put her on my visitor list?

  • David Brin, Kim Stanley Robinson and general reading habits

  • The LION woke up with three women in his bed this morning (film at 5)

  • Sci-fi writers are there on AOL

Our own published:

• Spiritus Mundi
• GregAtlanta
• John Rush
• David B.

  • The stuff you post online - it may be somewhat perpetual, you do realize?

  • Great threads sink, while inane ones sometimes achieve notoriety

  • The ethics of posting answers to questions (i.e., the idiots who show up to chastise our medicos and attorneys for posting information, even though it’s usually done with a clear admonition to seek professional counsel - BTW, I can get you in to a great drilling deal)

  • beans, beef & chicken (we’re all alive today)

  • Satan lives!!! in a bathroom under construction (Woody’s(?) - would you go into a bathroom named Woody’s?)

  • rats, plague, Phaedrus

  • beatle pic

  • Yay Opal! And the, uh, “backscratch” smilie (sorry, Chief, they made me say it).

  • FORMERAGENT man and blasts from the (in some cases, recent) past: bjorn, thorleifur, Ho

  • Irishman has apparently slogged through 360º of Velikoski and lived to tell of it

  • tiny cow

  • Boris B (Good reviews, pal)

  • safety pins (especially the little gold ones)

  • WallyM7 (this came up after the dopecon, but good luck w/the bypass surgery, Wally - heavy duty stuff, but they do have it pretty well down these days - again, good tidings)

  • Is she really 18? (Yeah, so beatle asked a 14 year old out once - hell! she was drinking a margarita in a bar when I met her and was not dressed as a kid - fooled me)

  • Sealemon ate Boudin’s balls

  • fightin’ women (generally, ain’t worth it; Nemo’s made some good career choices)

  • What do you say to a woman who’s wearing just shoes and tack? (How about some hay, Honey? Whaddya mean I can’t put her on my visitors list!)

Yes! I’m still here! (Sealemon)

(Irish) Help! Help! They’ve got me and…

Ferget it! Neither of these guys gets out until Cecil (BANG! BANG!) unh…

Nice meeting, bad toilets.

My nipples aren’t hard because I’m horny - I’m cold DAMMIT (it’s a common reaction that causes attraction whenever it’s cold…)

Good thing we’re not in Mississippi!

LION hugs beatle (Who the hell wrote THAT!?! I sure the hell missed it! Primary suspects: Ayesha or Sealemon)

It was a very satisfying encounter with Mr. Nemo and everybody’s looking forward to an opportunity to meet zyada and manhattan

And that was that…(see ya next week)

(The sobering realization here is that one screwed up UBB or HTML code in this post will render most of it unreadable - Oh well! Here it goes…)

A great job beatle. (But you left Eve off the list of published posters and she was the first one mentioned. Granted attempting to summarize a six hour conversation involving ten people usually means the details may be a bit sketchy.) But at least the next time the Huntsville Rodeo is on and they talk about some convict mounting his horse, there’ll be some Texans who won’t be able to keep a straight face. It’s knowing that I make a difference in some people’s lives that keeps me going.

Looking forward to Round II next Saturday.

::Looking up at the sky in total innocence while whisteling::

Ummmm, it wasn’t me beatle, honest, it was…
Lion, yeah that’s it. Lion wrote it to … ummm…get your attention.

(whew think he bought it?}
