I think the subject line says enough to get started. Who’s interested?
{Oh Boy! 60 bumps to add to the ol’ post count!)

If it’s in Houston, I’m in for sure. Anyone got a line on a good pub since the Ale House went to the Big Construction Project in the Sky?
Robin
I don’t make plans very far in advance, so there’s a good chance I’ll be able to make it.
Is it really the 20th one already?
I’ve been remiss in my titling. Those were supposed to be space holder variables, not the Superbowl style serial number that it resembles.
Frankly I have no idea what number we’ve reached.
Have the Houston DopeFest in Ozona and I’ll be able to make it! After all, Ozona is the county seat of Crockett Co., and Crockett is the seat of Houston Co., so it’d be acceptable, right? Right?
We can discuss it, but I think it’s a long shot.
Although, when I moved to Texas in 1985, not having counties and cities with the same name confused the hell out of me. I mean, Houston should be in Houston County, right?
Robin
What worries me most after all these years is that geologists often make sense to me.
I understand. I now read the energy page in the business section of the Chronicle.

I am down with a Dopefest. Its been a while since I have seen some of my favorite dopers.
Once I get over my hangover (well it is Labor Day) I will see if I can find us a pub or something.
Let’s consider all the advantages beautiful Ozona has to offer:
I can hardly wait.
Robin, who has made the trek to El Paso before
A candidate, where we had a great HouDope once before, is the Baker Street Pub, which I couldn’t find in the phone book last night because it’s younger than my phone book. So I went by there this evening; it’s at 5510 Morningside in the Rice Village.
Just a proposal.
Pant, does UH perhaps have any upcoming igneous petrology seminars?
Sounds good to me
Um, can we at least schedule the rock jockey stuff till after dinner?
Robin
None that I can think of, unfortunately. But… if I happen to make it Houston-ward, I’ll be sure and let you know!
You know, the next regional GSA meeting will be held out here! And we’ve got a TPWD meeting in December. (And I am the field trip chair, although I haven’t done shit yet, I’m ashamed to admit.)
If Ozona is out, how 'bout Sonora? Junction? Or better yet: Ft. Stockton? Van Horn?
Pantellerite, where do you live?
Flights on Southwest to Houston aren’t expensive, and if I ever have to take I-10 west of San Antonio again, I’m just gonna be forced to be admitted to the booby hatch.
Robin
Robin – I live in Alpine. It’s a long drive to anywhere.
The nearest airport (that flies any commercial airline, including Southwest) is in Midland, ~170 miles away! (It also has the closest H.E.B. and mall; I make the trek about once every two months.)
And if I never have to drive on I-10 again, it’d be okay with me… but until I get out of here, that day’ll never happen!
Man, I dunno… Are you sure you want to be hearing all that on a FULL stomach?
Okay, so do we have an idea of a date for this thing yet? Or are we just trying to avoid that until after we’re sure hurricane season is past, in remembrance of Rob’s attempt in June? Is that what your “60 bumps” reference was for, beatle? One a day, until some time in Nov?
I figure that if the rock-jockey stuff is after dinner, we can sneak out one at a time and repair to the bar
As for dates, are we looking at the end of September, first part of October?
Robin
Hmmm, well let us know when and where and the LIONsob and I will do our best to be there with boobs er I mean bells on.
Hey BigGiantHead, I thought you were coming to one earlier this year. But you didn’t appear, so now we have to try again.
Before getting to specifics, I thought we’d run this thread for a few days and see how many of the Bayou City denizens check in. The 60 bumps was a reference to a 'Fest thread that took about 6 weeks to come to (a surprisingly good) fruition wherein I did actually post to the thread 60 times. Got a great turnout. I believe meeting threads are an acceptable venue for repeated bumps.
And yes, Ayesha, we’ll be wantin’ to see you and LIONsob again if we can.
