Did anyone else have a problem with the size of the lungs? I was trying to imagine the body that would surround them, and kept coming up with Carel Struycken. They looked like two Christmas hams. Are lungs really that large?
So House went directly from jail, to get cracking on the case at the hospital - just like that? … What about his electronic ankle bracelet, is it going to be taken off so he can leave the hospital grounds? I thought he didn’t have an apartment any more and would have to maybe live at the hospital for a while… It sounds like no one, even Wilson, visited him while he was in prison. Maybe Wilson looked after House’s apartment? House probably has a ton of money socked away… I did laugh when House yelled out “prison! I was in prison!” and “it wasn’t rape - well, not rape-rape. Not rape-rape-rape.” And when he was rudely ejected from the office the other doctor took over, he looked like A Bad Cat tossed out of the room with the ‘good furniture’… And OMG what is with House’s HAIR? I never saw it that long, it was slicked back, but I’m sure it’s chin-length after he takes a shower!.. And didn’t one of those lungs ‘die’? They did look enormous and i just know I’ll be dreaming about them some night…
I didn’t catch all of Forman’s explanation at the beginning about how he was able to get House out of prison to work on the case, but I assumed that House would be going back when it was all done. But obviously he’s not, it looks like he’s out for good. Can anyone fill me in on that detail?
It didn’t give many details and it did sound like he was heading back to jail at the end. Either Forman was lying to him, or he saw what was happening and asked for the parole to continue.
I liked Charlene Yi, and her character, but her voice is very annoying. It sounds like beginner playing on a badly tuned violin, and flatting every note.
I thought House’s courtship of Wilson was sweet. It was by far the most romantic thing we’ve ever seen him do.
I got the idea that Foreman sought parole for House because of the emergency case, but that the parole is ongoing as long as House is a good little boy.
Presumably he had a fair amount of money socked away and automatic bill pay from his bank or some such to manage the monthly expenses, and he may have some of these already set up as part of his pre-prison life.
I was thinking maybe House’s mother was taking care of some stuff for him. Now that his “father” is dead she needs something to do aside from boinking the neighbors.
No reason to think he couldn’t. House made a ton of money, and he didn’t really seem to be into conspicuous consumption, so he probably had quite a bit put away. It’s even possible that he might have owned the place outright. I just wonder who he had looking after it for him–having it sit empty that long would make it a magnet for thieves, I’d think.
House probably got his “wife” to look after his place while he was in prison.
Note that both Cuddy and Taub have now appeared on The Good Wife this season. With Cuddy last seen looking for a job at the law firm.
House’s ratings have fallen dramatically. They need to cut payroll. It’s basic economics. Plus they need new blood. But promoting a kid by doctor standards to dean is stupid even by TV show standards.
Two episodes with no mention of the wife. Could have made some conjugal visit references in the first episode.
Wilson decks House with one punch and yet House’s nose doesn’t even flatten a bit during the punch. The man is made of steel … that topples over easily.
Is there any proof at all in the episode that this wasn’t just a delusion House had while in solitary confinement?
Cuz I smell a rat.
Either way, these writers have completely lost my trust at this point. Sad.
Doogie Howser would be a good team member.
That would be the best guest star episode ever!
Hell, with Doogie’s experience (graduated medical school in 1987 at the age of 14), they should promote him to Dean of Medicine over Foreman.
And in the show’s finale we find out House has been in purgatory the whole time!
Nah. He’s a patient imagining the whole thing in a fever-induced hallucination. From lupus.
I did! I asked my co-viewers if they were supposed to belong to a giant.
I liked Charlyne Yi’s character, but I liked the prison doctor better. She’s supposed to be in at least one more episode soon, so I’m pleased.
No one wanted to be on a medical team headed by Forman, or by anyone who wasn’t House. This was established at least two years ago. By extension, no one wanted the Dean of Medicine job at a hospital with no prestige left in its reputation, except Forman (who, remember, couldn’t cut it at the other hospital he tried working at). Dr. Pinto is typical of the kind of doctor he can attract and keep.
Despite Forman’s claim that springing House was an unpopular decision with the Board, I suspect the opposite is true: Forman gets the Dean of Medicine position–which he’s barely qualified for–on the condition that he can get House back and keep him on a short leash. Forman is giving him back his old life a little bit at a time, as part of a punishment/reward dynamic
Does House have a license at the moment? Apparently so. Judges and licensing boards in the House Universe cut you a lot of slack if you produce results.
Two more points: One lung didn’t die, one lobe died. The remaining four were enough to keep POTW ticking. Also, Wilson punched him on the cheek, not the nose.
I don’t know how it works with doctors, but, as an EMT, if I try to do something outside of the limitations of my certification, I can ONLY do it under the observation of someone whose certification is higher than mine. For instance, if I’m trying to start an IV on a patient, it’s not considered out of my scope of practice if, as an example, I’m currently in training for a paramedic certification. I would be doing the procedure under the paramedic instructor’s instruction, and operating under THEIR certification at that point.
Princeton Plainsboro is a teaching hospital. They’ve said that previously. Perhaps House’s parole/probation is contingent on him operating under Foreman’s license for the time being. His license may not have been revoked. It may have just been suspended, and he has to prove that all of his antics are truly behind him (a prospect I doubt, but it’s conceivable).
