one of the conditions of being released and relicensed, since he’s a recovering addict and all…
anyone else think “stealing” the loft was about as mean as wilson gets? it was a small gesture in retaliation to cuddy’s justified decisions. she’s in her right to do so, but it irks wilson so he decides to deny her of her apartment (he’s in his right to do so, and it’ll irk her in return).
Well, I’m kind of a doormat for letting people get away with ridiculous things and still loving them, so I buy that some people would put up with his shit. Frankly, I would, at least for a while. Someone has to love the unloveables.
And I’m with you…
…to an extent.
If I were Lisa Cuddy, I’d put him in a box and have only papers, food, and water go through the door so he can live and diagnose stuff. “Oh, and here we have something we’re really proud of, Dr. House’s box! He’s in there diagnosing right now.”
the way she’s written, she loves the attention. never wearing a coat, always having at least 1/3 of her breasts showing, 3 inch heels… that is not how a hospital administrator dresses, especially one that is trying to avoid the boner-lust.
Right, right, right. She’s partly to blame and all that nonsense.
Now at what point does she get fed up with his shit? It appears that she’s there, and about fucking time.
The whole point of characters like House is that, even though he’s a jerk, since we’ve essentially followed his life, we sorta get where he is coming from. He’s a jerk, but he’s our jerk. The show doesn’t work if we don’t feel for him somewhat, even if we think he’s a horrible person who is getting everything he deserves.
So while we can feel that Cuddy was totally justified in the way she treated House, we still realize that it hurt him. We realize that, while he has a jerky exterior, inside he’s got a heart of gold. (If you have a hard time believing he has such a heart, have a look at Dr Jerk, particularly the part about being a Jerk With A Heart Of Gold)
Only as a byproduct of his compulsion to solve puzzles. If the cases aren’t interesting House wouldn’t touch them, regardless how many lives might be saved.
Yet sometimes he helps people even after he solves the puzzle.
In this episode he did help Wilson try to get an organ donor. In a previous episode he let Chase off the hook for killing a dictator and later for punching him in the face.
He saved Wilson’s job in another episode by giving a euthanasia speech.
That is all I can think of off hand. There were also other times when a patient was being irrational about a treatment and House had to set them straight.
This. Cuddy has every right to date who ever she wants. But intentional or not, it was bad timing that she started getting serious with someone just as House is ready to open up. And what she did with Wilson was definitely what he said it was - an attempt to coerce a blessing from House vicariously through Wilson, and he was right to rebuke her. What Wilson did with the loft was a tiny slight at Cuddy, what it really was was a show of solidarity with House.
House told Wilson at some point in this episode that he was hurt.
House is not completely without fault. He’s a jackass, no doubt about it, and if Cuddy wants to be a jackass in return she can be. However, she still has to suffer the consequences of acting that way. Wilson just decided he wasn’t going to let her get away with it.
The show doesn’t show it, but if you think about it House probably suffers big for the way he acts. He has absolutely no friends except Wilson and a bunch of coworkers who only put up with him because he’s a brilliant doctor. If he didn’t have his talent he would only have one friend - Wilson.
Cuddy, on the other hand, probably has a great professional and personal life. House causes her trouble, sure, but she chooses to put up with it. She can fire him at any second. So if she wants to start acting like House, then let her suffer for it like House does.
That said, I’m also a sucker for loyalty. It was a real show of character by Wilson. It was like him saying, “everyone hates House, but I don’t care, he’s my friend so I’m going to help him.”
The boyfriend and I spent half the episode snickering because we decided that maybe Cuddy doesn’t dress like that - she dressed like a normal professional woman for this whole Wilson episode, where it was from his point of view. Maybe House just imagines that she dresses like a stripper pretending to be a schoolteacher.
And not only do they only have one operating room, they also only have one surgeon. And he works for House again. I guess they don’t have any ER docs at all now that Cameron’s gone.
