How do I quote a post?

When I click Reply to a post, it doesn’t automatically quote it. I don’t see any other option for quoting a post. I can see how to manually insert a quote using tags, but not automatically quoting what I’m replying to.

Click the speech bubble in your edit bar. If you quote in full the post immediately above you, system will delete the quote when you post.

You can also use Quote Reply if you have it turned on. Just highlight the part you want to quote and a Quote button will appear. Click it and it’ll open the reply window with the quoted part already in place.

Thank you! I saw the quote marks in the edit bar but it never occurred to me to check a speech bubble as a quote icon.

Yeah, it’s a two step process now. Make sure your [quote] and [/quote] tags are on lines all by themselves.

Can I multi-quote easily enough? Like click a few posts during my reading and have them all there for quoting when I compose my reply?

Click the reply button under the first post you want to quote. Then click the speech bubble in your edit bar. Go to the next post and click that one’s reply button. Click the speech bubble again. Continue until you’re done.

Or

Highlight the part of the first post you want to quote. A quote button should appear. Click it. Then do the same thing on subsequent posts. (If the quote button doesn’t show up, you’ve got Quote Reply turned off in your control panel.)

Well, that’s pretty cool, and something that it never would have occurred to me to try. Thanks.
