How Do You Drink Your Coffee?

Strong but totally useless thick black water. My cardiologist insists I stay to decaf.

I like my coffee to be called ‘coffee’.
I don’t like to feel like a class-a knob when I’m ordering from the menu in a coffee shop.

Try “thick and creamy”; it’s just a bit more appealing.

With a splash of 1% milk and 1 pack of Equal and 1 of Sweet n’ Low.

My current fave is Cincinnati Observatory Blend Coffee from Lookout Joe. (www.lookoutjoe.com) The bag says, “Strong enough to keep even the sleepiest astronomers awake all night.” Yum!

There is an Ethiopian coffee joint around the corner from my house that has the strongest, blackest, craziest coffee I have ever had.

It is awesome, but I can’t handle more than their 6oz small at a time.

I don’t have time to be that jittery!

But I sure do like them Hot, Strong and Sweet! But NO crazy, or at least only in small doses!

this is a hard question.

as a stimulant i drink it black and often instant, stimulant quantities of coffee perked or dripped is too oily over the day.

an evening coffee could be black or creamed/sugared

an after dinner coffee would be creamed/sugared

social coffee could be anything including black, creamed/sugared, cappuccino and latte

…feels warm going down my throat.

I like my coffee bold, easy, and in big cups.

OK, I’m not going to make any coffee=partner analogies here, because I’m going to wager a guess that my hubby would not like to be ‘fresh-ground’ every morning (unless you’re using ‘fresh ground’ as a euphemism for something he would like every morning. . .ah to hell with it!)

Anyway, I have a Cuisinart Grind N Brew coffee maker. I use dark roast beans, high bean-to-water ratio. I set it up at night before I go to bed so the smell of freshly ground and brewed coffee lures me out of the bed in the morning. I pour my coffee into a large mug (a ‘4-cup’ pot of coffee fills my mug all the way once, then about 2/3 of the way the second time around), add Splenda and Half and Half. If I’m feeling really decadent at the supermarket, I’ll buy heavy cream instead.

I have a Keurig single-cup coffee maker. Some of the best money I ever spent! I use pre-package K-Cups, and off-the-shelf coffee in a little adapter gizmo. Lemme tell ya, the coffee that comes out of that machine is THICK.

Heh. My sister has a Flavia coffemaker (one cup at a time, like yours; slightly different design). I really, really want one. My hubby bought me the Cuisinart at a flea market for ten bucks; I’ve considered selling it on eBay and putting the profit towards a Flavia. Couple of problems:
One, the Flavia coffee is a lot more expensive per cup.
Two, I’d be without a coffee maker between the time I have to ship my current one and the time my Flavia arrives.
Three, I’d have no wafting aroma of fresh-brewed coffee to lure me out of the bedroom in the early morning hours.

Right now, especially since my hubby just bought me three whole pounds of fresh beans at Costco, I’m leaning towards keeping my Cuisinart. . .

Strong and aromatic (not just strong and bitter), black, no sugar is my general preference, but I also like the occasional assorted frothy, milky, possibly-chocolatey thing

The way I heard it was, “brought up from South America in a burlap sack”.

What it also says is “Be advised that this is a public poll: other users can see the choice(s) you selected.”

Why did you pick that? What good does this do anyone?

Are you that inexplicably proud of your preference for strong black coffee? Midlife crisis? I guess it’s a cheaper way to try to look macho than getting a tat. Provided you know anyone who’s impressed by your coffee. Do you go back to the table and tell your pals you got the hard stuff so they will ooh and aah? And do they?

^Draw whatever conclusions you want, dude. I just didn’t see a reason to keep it private. shrugs

How is it any different from starting a regular thread asking how people like their coffee, and getting replies? Everyone will still know how you answered.

I’d have picked “Never, no-how, no-way” but it wasn’t up there.

I don’t know anyone else who won’t drink it, even if it’s only once in a great while for the caffiene boost. But I can’t bring myself to do it–the sheen, the smell–Blegh. I feel left out–I like stimulants too, dammit.

DMark!! I have a kindred spirit here and due to coffee of all things.

I could not agree more. Everyone looks at me funny when I do this. I love to hold a warm cup in the winter but it makes no sense to me to put an almost boiling liquid in my mouth.

All of the above, except I don’t like it weak.

The higher quality and fresher it is, the more likely it is I’ll drink it black. Most office/standard restaurant coffee get some of milk/cream with sweetener of some sort, but I’ll mix and match into just about every combo depending on my mood.

But I should note that I don’t drink at home and probably twice a week overall ( usually a cup or two at work ).
