How does Discourse attribute part 2, 3, etc. threads?

I finally–and very much to my surprise–had a thread go over the ten thousand post limit. Of course the original, now Part 1, thread is attributed to me as the orginator. What about the Part 2 thread? Who gets credit for starting that one?

I think some other people’s threads are into double digit part territory. I’ve wondered about the question above, but was just too lazy to get around to asking it.

It’s easy, just look at who the OP of the thread is. The OP is @system.

You can see what threads it started by looking at its profile.

Here’s an example rollover thread that’s always close to the top of the [Latest] page. One look is worth a thousand explanations:

You can see the OP body of the new part references all the prior parts. And as @Atamasama said, the OP poster is @system

Thanks for the answers. I guess what I’m really asking–or my vanity is–is if the follow-on parts to the thread would be attributed to the Part 1’s OP instead of “system”.

Now that I’ve typed that, I think it would be better, or at least cooler, if the system were to make its announcement as Post #10,000 and then take any posts which were already made, move them to the new part thread, and attribute it to the poster who gets the new part thread’s Post #1.

Or not. Maybe I’m just trying to “keep fixing it until it’s broken”.
