I think your memory card reader thingee got lost in the bean dip.
Wasn’t me.
We were going to go out and watch a movie outside tonight. it wasn’t a good movie, but it was a bunch of friends (the gang from the Wednesday concerts, in fact, same hill we were going to). But then it rained.
Instead of going and sitting in someone’s living room and drinking too much beer, we decided to come home, pop some popcorn and watch old movies from On Demand.
Anyone remember that Sidney Sheldon movie from '76 or so - The Other Side of Midnight? It was oln one of the HD channels tonight too. I remember taking my GF to it when it came out, and being shocked shocked shocked at the nudity and sex. I also remember falling in lust with the woman in the movie. I just IMDB’d her and she’s been making movies in France all these years.
Off, to look for recent pictures…
Wait. No, I want to remember her the way she looked in the mid 70’s, come to think of it.

Can someone tell me where I left my memory card reader? I want to download my pics from today and don’t see it anywhere. Guess I could go look for it./QUOTE]
If you weren’t some 2400 or so miles away, I’d invite you over to use mine. Of course, for what that’d cost in gas, you could just about buy a new computer and card reader.
Is there a better way to start the day than with a cat sitting on your chest, head-butting your chin? Well, actually, yeah. It would have been nice to sleep in just a bit. But Her Majesty would have nothing of it.
So I got up and brushed my teeth, took the dog out, fed the critters, emptied the dehumidifiers in the basement, brewed some tea for iced tea, cleaned the litter box, then plopped down here for some quality time with the computer until FCD gets up. His cat won’t head-butt him. His cat head-butts me! Life is so unfair.
On the other hand, it’s a bit drizzly out, so we may have to pass on cleaning the gutters and cutting the grass. Damn the bad luck… Guess we’ll figure that out when he gets up. Meanwhile, I’m awake, surfing, sipping some ice water. Oh yeah, I’m a wild woman, I am…
Good morning y’all! I have been up since 5:30 a.m. I didn’t even get to bed until 10:30 last night cause I’m a party animal and all. The dinner party was nice. My pies were all et up, which makes me a happy bear. I like it when I make stuff and it gets all gone. We had a chicken dish as an entree that was wondermous! I must now badger the hostess for said recipe. Oh, and I ate cauliflower! See, I don’t like cauliflower, but if there’s enough cheese sauce on it, it’s tolerable.
I’m going to see if the Sunday paper has arrived. If it’s here I can read the funnies before I get all prettified up to go to church. We’ve been invited to lunch and then, weather allowing, some folks are coming over to hang around the pool for a while. It may be rainy by this afternoon. We had rain yesterday afternoon and last night also. YAY! It’s still warm and humid but the rain at least beat down those horrid high 90’s to low 100’s we’ve been having.
Going to IHOP and read 250 pages before 11 am. It’s 0630 here now. Gorgeous weather here (for now) and am very happy, if just a bit stressed and tired. Won’t be back here until “boot camp” is over. Save some choc chip cookies for me. <waves>
Thanks for the card reader offer, gotti. I’ve never been to California before, so it would, of course be an excellent opportunity.
Fortunately, the card reader has turned up, so I don’t need yours at this very moment. It was under the bean dip and not in it. Which allowed me to upload and admire my pics, including this one, which was about the coolest thing we saw yesterday; well at least the most original. A couple of horticulture students at OSU dreamed it up. The furniture is all stuff that was being thrown away and the plants are all leftovers. I ran out of memory and didn’t have a spare, so I didn’t take quite as many pics as I would have otherwise. But the hort gardens are about 5 minutes from my house, so I’m going back today to add in a few more. They had some really cool containers and pretty plantings and stuff. The 10 or so of us who did the tour were in pretty much died-and-gone-to-heaven mode all day.
Sounds like we’re all having riotous and out-of-control weekends. It is nice when whatever you brought is all gone before you leave, isn’t it, swampy?
Well, I’m back out to the garden to make mine look more like what I spent the day looking at yesterday…
Just enjoyed a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios, I have Scarlett by my side on the couch, and I’m watching the end of the Tour De France. Such drama.
I’ll cut the grass, grab a library book, then spend the rest of the day on me bum. I have the sunday papers, it’s a beautiful day and I’m taking it easy.
Good morning everyone. It promises to be another scorcher today, although they say temps will top out in the mid 90s. Friday was 102 degrees, yesterday 100 degrees, what’s a couple degrees at this point?
Seattle managed to stay in the 90s yesterday. It’s always a little warmer here because we’re closer to the foothills of the Cascades and further away from Puget Sound.
Today is another day of boating fun. We had fun yesterday, although we had to make an emergency  purchase of new boots for the wakeboard. Seems the hubby blew out the boots on his last outing. So, we ended spending as much for the new boots as we paid for the board. However, these boots are very good quality, so they should last.
I had some very terrible news on Friday evening. My friend called me that evening. She was crying so hard I could hardly understand her. It seems a very good friend of hers was killed in mortar attack in Afghanastan. He and his family were like family to hers. I feel so awful for her and the soldier’s family. He was a very funny guy, with a fantastic sense of humor. This is very hard for my friend because her husband is in Iraq right now. The soldier has relatives out here that I’ve met. She’s flying back to be with his family late next week and he’ll be laid to rest in Arlington after the memorial service. She’s been dealing with the casualty assistance officer for the soldier’s wife. I feel so helpless, and want so much to help my friend. I know there is nothing I can do or say for her. I guess all I can do is be there when she calls and keep the idjits at work away from her.
Whew! Sorry for the downer. I’ve been keeping this pretty close to the chest, but just had to get it out of me.
I am currently sipping iced coffee. It is good. We’ll be loading up the boat shortly and heading out.
Hey,** gardentraveler! ** Maybe they were some of ours! Come on up to the Wooster campus (OSU-ATI) and tour our gardens and Secrest Arboretum, if you haven’t already done so. (Although I must say that, this year, the annual plantings in front of the conservatory look like they were designed by a color-blind dope fiend. Very lush and full, but FU-U-U-UGLY color combinations. Yeesh!)
Great day for gardening. I probably ought to mow the back yard today.
Time for breakfast. Is chocolate cream pie a suitable and nutritious breakfast?
Nice day, today. It’s not hot. I want more of this. Let’s move right into October right now.
It’s been raining on and off, so no gutter cleaning or grass mowing - damn the luck!
We had breakfast out, then went around looking at marinas. Our old slip is still available at the cheap place, and most of the others run $1K more a year, so we’re probably going back to the cheap place.
We’re going to go play with clay in a bit, plus I have to do laundry.
All in all, a boring day. And a too-short weekend. Alas…
Oh, and in case you missed it, I’ve got another thread going. Do drop by!
Not sure exactly who. Sounded llike they might have been grad students with an office in Howlett Hall somewhere. Our tour guide was a Chadwick volunteer who studied horticulture. Not sure if he still has ties to the department; didn’t get a chance to ask. I’ve always wanted to make it up to the Wooster campus. Looks like I’m out of weekends for this year, but hopefully next year…
Sorry to hear your bad news, Taters. It’s always frustrating not to be able to stop the hurt and sadness.
Yes, LiLi, it is. Chocolate contains antioxidants, which are very important.
Well, it’s time to get back out into the garden. I’m hoping to have all my stray plants safely in the ground by the end of the afternoon. Also I have to mow and start getting rid of blackberries and some of the neighbor’s tree (it’s a rental and the landlord does zip to the tree that hangs over my property).
I got mine on e-bay, as I recall it was less than $50. I took it to a sports shop and had Snakescatlady and 05 put on it. I get lots of compliments when I wear it. Funny, when I wear the Grateful Dead one I get lots of funny looks…
The google ads I just saw were for a pork feast, margaritas and a pasta feast. Sounds like a party to me! I got company out at the pool so I need to get back but I wanted some quality a/c time.
Taters sorry to hear about your friend. They will be in my thoughts and prayers. You’re being there for her will mean a whole lot more than you’ll know.
It’s hot out, but at least not unbearably so. I’m taking an iced latte break and considering how long to stay out there. I’d really like to get some stuff done indoors too. Also, I have a big work day tomorrow. All-day meeting at which I get to present a fair amount. I want to do something fun tonight as a distraction from that. Back eventually.
Well, I pretty much wasted the entire afternoon. I do have a load of jeans in the washer, but I didn’t do any clay work. Apart from searching for boat names and watching assorted weird TV, we’ve done nothing.
We had a humongous thunderstorm here right after I posted earlier. Thus, everybody went home cause, well, you cannot play in the pool during a thunderstorm. Know what though? That was fine by me cause I was kinda ready for folks to be gone.
I made ACBG and me BLTs and we sat out on the back porch to eat ‘em cause the storm cooled things down to a tolerable sittin’ outside level. He’s gone now cause he needed to do some laundry this evening before beddy bye time.
Since I’m on vacation, tomorrow, I plan to clean out my bed room closet. I know how to live don’t I! I’ve also taken some ground beef and ground hog out of the freezer to thaw in the fridge over night cause I’m making a meat loaf tomorrow for supper. ACBG lurves meatloaf, so I’m not telling him I’m making one. He just knows that I’m making supper tomorrow night since I’ll be home and all during the day. I’m thinking meatloaf, mac & cheese, steamed cabbage and corn bread. Sounds yum don’t it!
