How Long Until You Got Engaged?

Met in fall 03 (grad school)
First date early Nov 04
Engaged early spring 05 (Feb-Apr?)
Married the following Aug
30th anniversary this past fall

Wait. What year is it?

Six weeks. Got married four months later. That was 35 years ago.

First date July 14.
Engaged September 9th.
Married Dec 14 of the next year.
19th anniversary coming up next week.

The mister would have gotten married right away but I wanted to wait and plan things out as we were both young.

Sometimes you just know right from the start. My parents went from meeting to married in a two month time frame. They would have celebrated their 47th anniversary this year if my dad hadn’t passed away in March.

I was only 16 when I met my husband. My mother told him he absolutely, positively had to wait until I was 18. We did better than that. I was 19 when he popped the question.

We met in the fall of '03. Started dating in the spring of '11, started living together in fall of '11, got engaged in the summer of '12, then got married in the fall of '13. So far we’ve survived two years and it’s looking good.

Honestly, I feel like we rushed to getting married with only 2.5 years of dating but I don’t know why I feel that way there was no doubt where we were heading after the first three months of living together but I hate telling people that we dated for such a short time period.

I’m married but I’ve never been engaged. Started as a long-distance thing, so the moving in was probably rushed. Then lived together about 1.5 years before getting married. Had 2 pregnancies during that time, though.

Met her here in CT in Nov '92. She had a boyfriend, though he lived out of state.
Went to an SCA ball with her at the end of Feb '93. Transferred to VA the next day.
Went on deployment in Apr '93.
Returned from deployment in Jul '93 to discover that I had somehow acquired a girlfriend whilst in the Med.
Engaged in Aug '93; started planning a wedding for Dec '93 or Jan '94.
She went down to VA in Sep '93 for a job interview. While she was there, we checked on the requirements for a wedding in VA. No blood test, no waiting period, no witnesses required. Got married at the courthouse the next day because I could start drawing BAQ immediately.
Married 22 years now…

(She really wanted a church wedding, so we went ahead and had one in Jan of '94, complete with bagpipes. We celebrate both anniversaries every year.)

Damn’ time-travellers…

We dated for just over a year and a half before we got engaged, though we were both in the camp of “we’re planning to get engaged” for at least several months before I actually popped the question.

When I proposed, I was 26, and she was 28. I’d had two serious girlfriends before starting to date my now-wife (both relationships lasting over a year), and she’d had one serious boyfriend before me (which lasted several years). So, by that point, we were both old enough and experienced enough that we knew that this was “the one”.

We were then engaged for a year before the wedding (almost entirely because it wasn’t possible to book a reception hall any sooner).

We were “officially” engaged 7-8 years after we started dating, but we had a lot of conversations about it and knew we were going to eventually get married, maybe a year in. Possibly earlier.

We were engaged the first night we met.

We were married 28 years later.

Met in the fall of 2002.
Started dating that winter.
Moved in together in 2004.
Moved across the country in 2011, then again in 2014. Had a baby last year.

Engaged? Married? We seem to have skipped that part.

Just over 6 months Engaged for 1 1/2 years. Now married for 24 years.

About 4 months from when we started dating till I asked her, though we started discussing our wedding about 2 months in. Engaged for 2 years to save up money (paid everything ourselves). Married for 3 1/2 years now.

About six months, married four months later. Marriage lasted 546 months (so far).

About 4 years.

Engaged five months after first date, married after 6 month engagement. We did not make a joint account until after we married.

Met him on March 3rd. He moved into my house the first week in April. We got married on the 4th of July: all occurring in 1987. We are going on 29 years!

Not quite 2 years.
