How Long Until You Got Engaged?

13 months, 19 days, and two hours.

Approximately.

I think about a year and a half or two years. Our first date was to see Star Trek: The Motion Picture. That was 1979, and we were married in 1982. IIRC I realized I was in love on November 19, 1981, because there was a huge snow storm that day and I trekked to see her. We got engaged a few weeks later.

Friends with benefits for two years in college, started seriously dating in late 2005, proposed in December 2008.

Five and a half years, though we never lived closer than 600 miles from each other and after the first year of traveling back and forth to see each other spent a lot of time not talking.
We’ve been married 37 years.

We were coworkers for a year, then she transferred to another department and we were immediately an “item”. Four months later I bought a house that she chose, while she maintained a separate home, mostly for appearances to keep our parents happy.

Eight months later I proposed. Four months after that we were married.

So engagement was two years after we met and last year after we were officially “dating”.

Three years of dating followed by a three year engagement. We met young but wanted her to finish college before we got married.

Daily encounters in February, first date in March, engaged by May, married late October all 1992. 23 years and counting with my soul mate and best friend.

That is unless we use the new math as established in this thread…………maybe 69 years by the new math.

First date: late Aug., 1963 about the time of the March on Wahsington
Bonded: Nov. 23, during the assassination weekend.
Actually engaged: Midnight Dec. 31/Jan. 1
Married: March 14 (Pi day, although no one had thought of that then).

Incidentally, we originally scheduled our wedding for June 21, but didn’t want to wait that long. Instead we went to a ball game that day and saw a perfect game (Jim Bunning’s).

Aw shit. Must be getting senile.

Married in 85. :o

Moved in together after five months, engaged at nine months, married at eleven months.

It’s now been two and half years, first baby is on the way. It’s a different kind of relationship than those I’ve had before, but I’ve noticed when you’re older, it’s not so much that you rush, but you just don’t fuck about.

Apparently, you do

Been together 16 years, still not engaged, still quite happy living in sin.

19 months, but we knew long before that, just needed the right moment…

Just under a year. Then we were engaged for over a year and a half before we got married.

We got to celebrate our -1st anniversary together, since we’d already set the date by then.

About 3 and a half years from our first date. We got married 15 months after our engagement.

Met in June.
Living together in September.
Engaged in December.
Married the next June.

Sometimes you just know.

First date in June. Engaged in October, Married in April. Married 32 years.

Casually Met in June 1985 saw him occasionally around after that.
First date in February 1986
Engaged in December 1986
Married leap day 1988

Still married:)

Three years. We probably would have waited anyway, but the fact that we were both 19 and still in college was a factor. We’ve been married almost ten.

About 6 weeks.

Been married 47 years.
