I only have about 1100 mp3s on my computer. I only have about 60 CDs. Man. I don’t have much music.
Now I know Satan will beat us all with his 3000 CD collection, but who’s got the most mp3s?

my thinkpad has only 4GB; I’ve actually developed the habit of buying CDs just so I can get rid of the mp3 and free up disk space. I guess the answer to your question would always be “more than I want”.
Right now it’s 592, not counting the ones I’ve ripped from my CDs to put on my portable player.
last time I checked … about 2500
None… not even an MP3 player in the house.
Osip
grr, I mean 181, not 592. I was looking at the wrong number in the display. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that I couldn’t fit almost 600 mp3s onto a 4GB HD and still have room for the web browser I’m using to type this.
623, according to Napster. I’m working on adding my CD collection, about 400 of em I think. If I could find a way to add all my vinyl LP’s then I would really be happy. I’ve got about 400 Lp’s too going all the way back to late 70’s. I’m ashamed to admit I once had a pretty impressive 8 track collection at one time. I never bought cassete tapes much. I usually bought or borrowed the cd and copied it.
BTW Have you ever noticed a song being uploaded that you didn’t even know you HAD on you computer?
I’m think of getting an Mp3 player soon. Any comments as the best etc.? I saw an ad for one that you can hook up to any phone line and play directly from your PC. Has anyone got any info on those?
I have none!
One note - if you own a copy of the LP, casette, or 8-track, or Victrola wax cylinder, you CAN, IIRC, legally download the mp3s for the songs from it. Now whether or not the person you download from can legally SEND you the mp3’s is another matter…
My playlist is some 430 songs. I’ve not gotten a chance to add to my playlist since March. I would have a few hundred more given the chance, but as I’m currently struggling for disk space (500 megs left, 6 gigs originally) I’m not sure I will get that many.
Oh, and I don’t own a music CD. I never have.
About 260.
Wow, let’s see. In my personal mix folder I have, 703. That’s about 3.28 GB. That’s not counting my “Extra MP3s” folder which contains over 300 MB, those are mostly duplicate files, when I re-download an MP3 I already have I can’t delete the old one, so I just stick it in the extra folder. Also, I have another folder for miscellanies MP3s, for the songs I want to have but don’t listen to often. Geez, I have a lot of MP3 files. Total amount of files comes out to be about 827 files, and those aren’t counting the MP3 files I made myself from regular tape recorder recordings.
It looks like a few other’s collections here blow out mine, though. I guess I still have more then the average person. I download them all at work using their DSL line onto my laptop and then transfer them off my laptop onto my main computer when I get home. I use Napster to download most of them now, great service.
529 according to Napster…and still working on them.
I have about 76 according to Napster and I’m dling my 77 one right now… man I don’t have much compared to you guys… but then again I delete all the ones I don’t like or listen to much…
They’re not not all mine, but some quick statistics from my workstation at work:
lister:/mp3> find . -iname “*mp3” |wc -l
9285
So that’s 9285 files, each a song (or, more technically, a track from a CD).
lister:/mp3> du -sk
50126372 .
A quick disk usage check tells me I have approximately 47 GB of music at my disposal. I do believe all of these tracks, with the exception of fewer than 20 from the Internet, are from CD media we bring to work.
Wow, I only have 175 according to Napster. Was working on 1K when I had to reformat this week and didn’t feel like waiting to send them all to CDs. I better get back to work. Ain’t DSL grand?
Nary a one. (That means none…)
Yeah, sure is, at work though. I’m still waiting for my neighborhood to carry DSL and cable modem, I can’t wait to use these faster services here at home. Man, I’m so sick of dialup.
Last time I checked, I had over 14 gigs of MP3’s. I do not know the exact amount, but I would guess at least 3500+
