I’ve heard that Mt Rushmore is rather overrated, but the Minuteman site does sound intriguing, So maybe I will go to SD after all.
Maryland and D.C., but most people here don’t really think of them as separate. It’s basically just “the city” and “the 'burbs.”

As do I. We saw Ali Farka Toure in concert in Bamako! We’ve also seen Salif Keita and Habib Koite here in the US.
I did stage design for him in Zimbabwe, we made massive papier-maché masks in Malian style.
Such a great show.
He is not Malian, he is Senagalese, but he lives and works out of Mali
