This seems like a completely-avoidable cluster-fuck:
Yawn. Are we talking about a primary? Yes. So, what is the news?
Anyway, you can yell at me for my #NoOldWhiteGuys voting strategy. It’s just as relevant as this “news”.
Oh dear Lord! This is the worst scandal in the history of US elections!!!
Meh. Apparently the guy she was talking about refers to himself as a crusty old marine. This comment is neither going to help nor hurt her.
How is “crusty old marine” offensive? I’m pretty sure that actual marines refer to themselves that way all the time.
What about this do you perceive to be a “cluster-fuck”?
It’s offensive becuz itz a DEMOCRAT, boys!
And a WIMMAN!
Do not marines fancy ‘crusty and old’ as a compliment, of a sort, even going so far as to self identify as such?
The other candidate identifies as such, and she is, indeed, not one, so who, exactly is taking offence here?
Oh yeah, FoxNews. Weak tea in the extreme, in my opinion.
The only way this would be a San Diego scandal is if she referred to him as an “ex-Marine” or referred to him as a soldier.
So much worse than Todd “legitimate rape” Akin
WAY worse than Judge Roy “I like 'em young” Moore. WAAAAAY worse.
So…at this point in the thread it should be pretty clear to you that your news site of choice served you up a hefty helping of outrage bullshit. Will this in any way change your opinion of the news site that had such a low opinion of you that they thought you’d eat the shit they served you?
“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.”
Moose Turd Pie
The punchline makes the point.
Fucking snowflakes. It was just locker room talk.
It’s not “outrage bullshit”. It’s not even “outrage”. I thought it was mildly interesting that a candidate would commit such an obvious faux pas (I hemmed and hawed about posting it in MPSIMS). I guess I underestimated (yet again) how quickly Dopers would ride to the defense of anything with a (D) after its name though.
I don’t know why you’re not an NFL quarterback with such an outstanding backpedal.
Yeah, for her candidacy, it was a pretty big mistake, sort of like the infamous “deplorables” comment.
The world will keep turning and America will keep chugging along, she just won’t be a Congresswoman.
