Not that surprising. You could tell from the Anna Nicole Smith show that he was in love with her. He followed her around like a puppy dog and was always very patient with her antics. But I never really knew Anna liked him in that way.
Howard Stern, the radio guy?
Is that her lawyer friend?
No. Howard K. Stern, her attorney.
Was he her solicitor…?
Hmmm, so she spent her vacation in England sliding down barristers, huh?
That’s cool. Obviously he was dying to have sex with her for years.
Isn’t he a little young for her?
Y’know, I’m surprised this kind of thing doesn’t happen more often. At work I know three guys named “Mike Smith”. I know SAG has rules against duplicate names, so if there was already a guy named “Michael Fox” then you have to be known as “Michael J. Fox”, or go by some other stage name. But even so it seems like there should be more duplicate celebrity names.
I don’t buy it for a second.
Think like a lawyer: ANS might be getting a big payout soon after the SCOTUS ruling. They might be worried about a scenario such as: Real Father sues for custody on grounds ANS is an unfit mother and gets awarded a “suitable” amount of child support. Solution? Have a “lawyer friend downtown” claim paternity, etc.
That’s awesome - I love it!
I was thinking shock jock Howard Stern when I read the title and thought “…eh”, but then I got it.
He was so emasculated by her on the show that the idea of him impregnating her is so amusing. I can just see her slurring to him, “Howard, I want you to make me have a baby. I’m serious Howard. Make me pregnant”.
I am an avid listener of the radio guy and he is just mortified that this guy has the same name as him.
FWIW, I don’t think he’s really the father either. The REAL Howard Stern played clips from the Larry King show and I just thought the attorney guy sounded insincere. I think he thinks he’s doing ANS a big favor or something.
Are we certain that it isn’t Howard K. Smith?
I don’t think we can rule out Howard D. Duck either.
It never fails to amaze me, the nutjobs who manage to get through law school.
Likewise, I don’t believe he’s really the father of Anna’s girl. Anna thinks the real father is a creep, and so Howad’s stepping up to the plate.
Then why did she move out of the country to have the baby?
A few months ago it was speculated that she was trying to get away from the photographer who was claiming to be the father. If the lawyer is the real father, why not marry him sooner?
Agreed, to a certain extent. The claim would be bullet proof if they already were married. Under California law, only the married couple can dispute the parentage of a child born in wedlock.
And, dork that I am, I just perused the California Rules of Professional Conduct. While technically a lie is prohibited, I don’t see that he’s claimed to be the biological father of the child. Thus, he may feel okay saying that he’s the father, since he and Anna have determined he will act as the father. And, consequently, no ethical violation. (Unless and until he’s called before a court. Then we’ll see some fancy footwork.)
As for a payout, I disagree. I do not believe that a court would strip Anna of custody; instead, she’s more likely to be forced to joint custody, with little or no child support. But I agree that this likely is a ploy.
Amen.
Not that I care about the goings-on in the life of Anna Nicole Smith but wouldn’t her lawyer/claimed-father-of-her-child potentially get into serious ethical trouble with whatever state bar he’s licensed with because he had a sexual relationship with a client. In my state, such conduct recently resulted in an attorney being disbarred. (Of course, Mr. Stern could try to get around this by arguing his sexual relationship with Ms. Smith began before his professional one.)
