Hunting for a Bar - A Transatlantic MMP

Still no chocolate. :frowning: But I got some knitting done, so there’s that.

I think I’ll turn off the computer and knit some more. MWAH!!

Nap was horrible–all dozey and almost asleep, then was awakened by a loud noise and now feel groggy and out of sorts. Bleh.

I made a sheetcake with caramel icing. 'Tis num, even if the icing is a bit too sweet. Next time I’ll cut down on the sugar a bit. Still, OYKW, the spoiled brat, is all happy cause there’s cake.

w00t! Services at St. Bluegills in the morning, and SWMBO dare not get in the way!

Home, sleepy, dinner was yum.

Off to sleep…

back from a lovely dinner at excellent chinese place - 8 of us laughing and talking and my fortune is so apropos today:
“Always accept yourself the way you are”
No snerks, please - I really like this one

I worked, I watched the Canes lose, I got overcharged for a beer, I got undercharged for a beer( I gave up and added the beer cost to the waitress’s tip ).

Christmas music is most definitely NOT allowed. I mean, the damn stuff should be banned pretty much year round, as far as I’m concerned, but carols before December is just pure madness.

Besides, we’re still in denial mode up here in Canadia… for dinner tonight I served up some pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw and corn on the cob. Much better than turkey, and way less work (even if you count the 12 hours spent smoking the pork last weekend).

I did make homemade buns for the sammiches, though, and boy howdy were they good… soft and fluffy and not too crusty, but way better than any storebought could ever be.

Congratumalations on your progress so far, rosie. That’s amazing!

Scruffy must die!!! grrrrrrrr. 5:30 this morning, she was barking outside my door. So I’ve been up, tending to the critters and reading the Sunday funnies on line. Idiot dog…

Plans for the day should include the beginning of bathroom destruction. I need to empty all the cabinets, which will probably include throwing a bunch of stuff away. Honestly, I have no idea what’s under the sink. I should also be able to take down the shower door and the towel bars/soap holder thingies, and maybe even the wall cabinets.

And I’ll knit. I started helmet liner #6, and I’m hoping to be able to give my coworker 8 to ship to her son’s unit. I bet it’s chilly in Afghanistan already. I’d also like to get some more work done on my daughter’s afghan. Definitely the weather for it. I think I have about a foot to go. I’ll post pics when it’s done.

When my sweetie wakes up, we’ll go to breakfast, and see what happens from there. Happy morning, all!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin.

Should I make brekkie or inform OYKW he has decided to take me out instead?

Decision, decisions… first, more caffiene!

So much for services at St. Bluegills. My sacrificial worms froze and died.

I’ll have to go tomorrow instead.

Up, caffeinated, off to blurf.

RIP sacrificial worms.

I made brekkie. I’m just too dang nice, I know.

Bummer on the frozen worms, Bobbio.

I vote on OYKW taking you out to breakfast, swampy. ETA: but I see you already caved. Heh.

Am having crescent rolls and tea for breakfast. Gotta go find some fruit to go with that. And need to get ready for church, too…

Back later…

Back from Bob’s and Lowe’s.

OK, here’s one for stoopit corporate policies - Our server had a little piece of paper stuck to her nose. It was to cover up the little piece of jewelry she was wearing. Apparently, nose jewelry was against corporate policy. I, personally, don’t like the look of earrings worn in the nose. Still, I don’t recoil in horror if I see someone so adorned. And it’s not like it’s a rare thing these days. We’re not talking breakfast in some fancy-pants restaurant where the waiters wear tuxedos - this was Bob Evans, fercryinoutloud!! sheesh.

I think I’m going to make a comment at their website.

Stuff to do. Quit distracting me! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m up and that’s about it. I’ve got coffee brewing.

Spent the day yesterday tearing my whole downstairs apart looking for my daughter’s title to her car. Didn’t find it.:frowning: I know it was upstairs in her room, I saw it there, but she’s in complete denial.

At any rate, I guess tearing the downstairs apart was a good thing. It forced me to go through a ton of paperwork. Most of it went in recycling, but I have a box that is full and requires shredding. I started shredding, but then quit after awhile.

We went out to dinner Friday night and then over to a friend’s house. We all had a great time. We ended up staying the night because neither of us felt like we should be driving. I was fine about an hour after we went to bed, but just decided to go ahead and sleep there anyway.

I don’t know what today’s plans are. I guess I’ll find out soon enough.

That sucks about the frozen worms, Bobbio.

It’s definitely cold here too. No frost, but it’s cold enough to see your breath when outside.

The “French listening” teacher probably won’t accept “but october 12 is a holiday!,” right? Oh well, at least tomorrow I only have that one class :stuck_out_tongue: Now if I can figure out what genius put it at lunchtime…

Sorry about the worms, Vundy. :frowning:

Breakfast this morning was scrambled aigs with homemade bacon and toasted homemade buns smeared with green tomato jam. Soooo good.

BTW, for the bakers… you absolutely must try this recipe next time you’re in the mood to make your own buns. I’ve never had a bun so ridiculously tasty in my entire life - they come out beautifully soft and tender, but they’re still substantial enough to deal with heavy or saucy fillings without falling apart.

Going to visit my grandma for lunch to bring her some leftovers from last night. It may not be Thanksgiving turkey, but I’m sure it’ll be much better than anything the nursing home has to offer.

FCM, a lot of retailers have a no-tattoos-no-piercings policy for their employees (though they usually exempt nose piercings if it’s a religious thing). I also worked for one place where on top of the no-tattoos-no-piercings rule, we also had to completely cover our shoulders and midriffs, despite the fact that we were in the business of selling tube tops, cropped tees and short shorts to 12 year old girls. Silly is what it is.

I’ve added a link to that recipe to the blog, Muppet. Sounds yum. That reminds me…there was something else you mentioned recently that sounded really good…::runs to check if there’s anything new on Muppet’s blog::…it was the gingerbread pancakes that you conveniently added to your blog yesterday. They sound quite awsome as well.

Nava, you could tell the teacher that your friends all over the world say it’s a holiday. I’m sure that will have a ring of authority.
Haven’t quite accomplished lots because I got distracted surfing. Turning computer off now so that I can get stuff done.

Back later.

Ooh, those buns/rolls look great. I think I’ll make them later today. I’m off to Borders, just 'cause I feel the need to be in a shop. I’m ostensibly looking for the LOTR soundtrack, if they have it, I’ll get it. If not, Amazon calls.

Then I need to winterize the back deck (the summer flowers are frost bit) and then… I dunno.

Enjoy your Sundays, all. I see YAYS for Rosie and I’ll join in, but [sub]why are we yay-ing?[/sub]
