Halloween curtains are done. I think I’m gonna take a knit break. Yeah, that’s the ticket.
Hey - the house next doorjust went on the market - anyone wanna be my neighbor??
I’m really surprised at the price - houses around here have been going from mid $300K to mid $400K. Her listing says “as is” - kinda makes me wonder what’s wrong… Her basement is rented out - by my math, it’s a 2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment. I don’t expect it to be on the market very long, unless there’s something really wrong with the place. Apart from the paint scheme.
My EYES! The colors in that kitchen are just atrocious. Not all appetizing. Maybe that was the evil plan, I dunno.
Fear not. My quest was successful, and I’ve obtained new ones.
The very first of my peecans have fallen, and I had to scoop nuts before mowing the yahd.
I made a non-Thanksgiving turkey for din-din and the week’s lunch; haven’t decided on the rest of the menu yet.
I just finished watching The Usual Suspects. I luuuurrrrves that movie.
Most importantly, I feel another nap coming on.
gt, they are indeed awesome. I loves me some gingerbread pancakes.
Grandmama Dearest quite enjoyed her lunch, which is no surprise since the nursing home doesn’t exactly provide gourmet meals. I rescued her from their interpretation of “pizza”, which is just a doughy slab of bread smeared with tomato sauce and a teensy bit of cheddar cheese. That counts as cruel and unusual punishment in my books.
We’re making roast beast with sweet NOT for din-din, which will be consumed with the last of the buns.
That’s ummmm… quite the interesting interior decor your neighbour has, Moooooom. Looks like the place will need some touch-ups and TLC from the new owners… I’d guess they haven’t done a thing to the place in about 30 years.
BTW, what do Halloween curtains look like, pray tell? This is a foreign concept for me.
Been a quiet day here, fortunately. Those rolls look and sound most delicious, Muppet! I wanted to comment on the gingerbread pancakes too–and I’m thinking of pumpkin pancakes also. YUM!
I was so hungry this afternoon, and trying to be good, I cut up some onion and chopped garlic, then sauteed them in a bit of evoo, which I added some “california-style” frozen veggies (broccoli, cauliflower and carrots) as well as a bit of cut leaf spinach to and let them steam a bit. I then added some leftover brown rice, steamed it all a bit more, than served it up with a sprinkling of colby-jack cheese. It was quite yummy and meatless! laughs
Tomorrow I have off for Columbus day and am going back to the physical therapists. I’m hoping that I’ll get my HMO to change their minds about getting me a rollator. Please keep me in your thoughts tomorrow afternoon!
**Muppet **- I’m pretty sure their kitchen cabinets are the originals from the mid 70s. The layout is exactly what ours was when we bought this house, and we know they were the builder cabinets. A big difference, tho - out kitchen isn’t open to the dining room and living room like theirs. I don’t know if they remodeled or if it was built that way.
Taters, yeah, the color scheme is somewhat jarring, isn’t it? I wish they’d shown the bedrooms and bathrooms. I suspect they’re probably stuck in the 70s also. Daughter was just saying she wished they could afford to buy. But with SIL in school and only working part time, there’s no way they can afford a mortgage and utilities. I wish we could help them buy a place before the market starts moving up again.
The Halloween curtains are black with neon color spiderwebs printed all over the fabric. They’re 18" long, so I guess they’re really valences, and they’ll be in the 2 windows in my daughter’s classroom. Next month, she’ll get Thanksgiving fabric, then Christmas fabric… well, you get the idea.
Back to knitting!!
Yeah, I was looking through the photos thinking, hmm… this place isn’t bad. Then I got to the kitchen and made a definite scrunchy face.
Not too much going on here. I need to glaze some of my clay stuff tonight but the glaze was in the car until about 10 minutes ago. So, I figure I should wait until it’s closer to room temperature. Hey Muppet, Li-Li, and all other savvy chef-types have you seen my corn syrup thread? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Howdy Y’all! I’s a tahred bear! After churchification and lunch at Steak ‘n Shake (instead of gettin’ taken out for brekkie I got lunch instead) where I had a guacamole burger with pepperjack cheese, chipotle sauce and red onions, YUM!, I did a bunch of yahd work. I pulled up grass in places that it shouldn’t be, went all Rambo with RoundUp[sup]TM[/sup], mowed, edged, weedwhacked and blew off the drive, walk, and concrete around the ceemint pond with blower. I have a feelin’ every bone, muscle, and joint in my body is gonna scream in agony come tomorrow mornin’.
MOOOOOOM that house… ummmm… that one room, the one that appears to be a shrine to the BVM… it’s just, just, just, well, it’s just JUST! Also, the owners of that house appear to be the Merrylande king and queen of knickknacks.
Oh and if the yahd insanity was not enough for one day, I felt compelled to invite no less than ten people over for lunch next Sunday. Now I need to figure out what to feed ‘em. I have a feelin’ puttin’ out a jar of peanut butter, a jar of jelly, some knives and a loaf of white bread would not be enough. Why do I do these things!
Oh yeah, I [del]am a masochist[/del] like to entertain, that’s why.
I had such a good sleep today - I woke around 10am - watched some TV - about 2pm I took a nap that was supposed to be only 90 minutes - I just woke up a half hour ago - I gues two Mai Tais will do that.
- but now I have to spend tomorrow evening working on the chorus artwork I should have done today - no biggie - but I wish I had tomorrow off - Columbus day is not one of our 10 holidays
rigs - the "yay"s were for my official loss total as of my doctor visit Friday - 32
Ok, Ima go take me some nighty-nite time pain reliever in hopes of stavin’ off oh so severe pain in the mornin’.
See y’all in Puggy’s shiney and new MMP!
: waves goodbye to old MMP :
Bachelor food, the working on Booster Club minutes. Don wanna?
Moooooom, your daughter is, like, the awesomest teacher ever. I love the idea of themed curtains for all the different holidays. (which, of course, makes you an awesome mom, for helping her with said curtains)
tarra, I like the sound of pumpkin pancakes… might have to give that whirl, seeing as I have some leftover pumpkin in the freezer that’s looking for a home. Maybe I’ll make that as part of a Halloween brekkie (I’m thinking jack-o-lantern faces drawn on with blackberry syrup as a finishing touch, just because I’m OCD like that)
Hope you feel okay in the morning, swampus. I know I will… no work on the morrow, so I get to sleep in. gloat
There are screeching cats outside which are driving my dogs crazy and most likely disturbing my sleeping mother.:dubious:
I’ve been knitting and watching Life on hulu. why do I like all the cancelled series?
Guess I should think about crawling into bed. I have the day off tomorrow, but am hoping to get lots done.
See everyone in the next MMP!

What’s the BVM? Do you mean the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe? ETA: Oh, the Blessed Virgin Mary? 10 to 1 odds the neighbors are somewhat Messican, it’s both a national and a religious symbol.
The colors scheme has nothing on some I’ve seen. The whole electric would have to be redone anyway, so that gets rid of the lamps…
I think the owners of that house need to contact someone from one of those “stage your house for better offers” shows - way too much clutter
and Carole needs some lessons in photography
What a weekend! Is it really Monday already?
Saturday we did errands in town and then in the evening we watched “Let the Right One In”, subtitled in English. It really wasn’t worth the bother. Sunday morning I got up early and met a friend for a trip to the church of blue and yellow - she wanted a load of bits and pieces, I needed a new lampshade. Mission accomplished, lunch was et and gossip was had.
By the time I got home, I’d got a headache, an hour or so later I was in bed with a migraine-type thing that lasted about 4hrs. I eventually got up again around 8pm and sat on the sofa for a couple of hours until bedtime.
Speaking of “Let the Right One In,” the whole sci-fi section in the university’s library is fampires, glowpires, anita blake, and other things that go biting necks in the night.
Boooooo-ring!
