I can't find these two traits in the same potential mate

Feh. I’m right there in the same boat. Hell, I’m the damned Captain.

I just wanna find someone who’s willing to vegetate on the couch, watching a Friday night hockey game, and then get up on Saturday for a weekend hike into the woods.

::sigh::

Plus they’d have to be willing to move every few years–which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Tripler
Those on the lam need not apply.

Who said no travelling? I’m just saying, not every weekend MUST involve travel. Your ex-boyfriend sounds like a total freak.

(And even in my rather homebodyish life, I still leave the house a lot, it’s just that a lot of it is the same routine things I like to do… cards on Tuesday, racquetball on Wednesday, visit my friends with the toddler twins on Sunday, etc.)
(Oh, and Cyn: If you’re asking about MY range, it’s about 10 years younger than you, sorry :frowning: )

catsix, in a discussion about geeky chicks and homebodies, your location is very fitting.

What do you think the Internet was invented for? Yeah, they say it got started for the purpose of sharing research more easily, but really it was for sending bad hexadecimal love poetry.

The reason Max can’t find a girl that meets his criteria is because I married her. Sorry, dude. Actually, you might try expanding your search a bit. Not all geeks are computer geeks. available light is a Victorian literature and TV geek, for example. And if you’re into RPGs, you can try the DunDraCon out in San Ramon next weekend. BayCon down in San Jose is a big SF and fantasy convention I’ve heard people talk about. I’ve never been, but apparently it’s a bit more of a party zone. A geek party zone, to be sure.

Yes, I was asking about the age range of your ideal, but I’m:
A) Married
B) Not in the Bay Area
But I was going to suggest someone a little older than you were originally thinking. My husband is 8 years younger than I am and was dating a 20-something before we met. He finds me elegant and serene and career-oriented and responsible. I appreciate the lovely home I’ve built and I’ve already been through the clubbing phase. I can sit and watch Bab5 on DVD on a Saturday night and not feel like life is passing me by. Acheiving a balance of calm and productive activity may take time and experience. And geek girls do tend to get snapped up in a hurry, even by non-geeks.

Cyn, who, make no mistake, is married to a major, high-scoring geek.

Yeah. The point was, he didn’t consider himself to be one. That was his idea of normal homebody. He wanted me to be that way too. I broke up with him.

Well, 127.0.0.1 is not exactly ‘home’, it’s ‘localhost’. So no matter where I am, I would always refer to my own location as 127.0.0.1.

127.0.0.1 is where the heart is, which explains the jack in the middle of my chest.

You sound like my official biographer. Maybe I’ll meet someone at 7-11 at two in the morning. There’s got to be a woman out there who’s as lame and boring as me!

The problem is that the meat market is usually just a bunch of men trying to get laid, and are willing to say or do anything to get what they want. I simply can’t compete with some clown with a maxed out credit card trying to make himself look rich. Women with enough brains to see through this bullshit are probably as fed up and disgusted with the whole business as I am and don’t go out much.

I’m the one buying coffee and Chesterfields.

I just want to say you all piss me off. I am looking for A and the opposite of B, yet I got A and B coming out the wazzo. Wanna trade?

On this note, wouldn’t it be great to be able to make Frankenstein’s Girlfriend? If I were to take the best parts out of all previous girlfriends and combine them into one super-girlfriend she would be perfect. Of course, she also would be way out of my league. Oh well.

I’m glad to know that I am not the only one that is picky like the OP. My paren’t no doubt question my sexual orientation due to lack of dating experience. (less so that many ladies I have dated are not even known by my parents)

Your two qualifiers are similar to my own. Intelligent and knowledgable, and able to sit at home and get satisfaction from doing so.

However, many of my other requirements are contradictory. I like a bit of spice and adventure, and want a woman who can enjoy both sitting at home and planning an exotic vacation. Or wouldn’t mind sitting at home watching an SG-1 a thon on a Saturday, then on Sunday is willing to go on a spontanious drive to the lake and skip stones or even head off to a concert in the middle of the week.

A lady that likes to dress up when the occasion arises, enjoys it even, but is comfortable going shopping in her sweats.

I want her to have her own hobbies, but I also want her to share in some of mine.

See, too many contradictions.

Looks don’t matter to me at all, but personality is paramount, and if I feel she doesn’t add up, I think I am wasting my time, and thus, don’t wish to waste hers.

Change mine to a chick, swap the money for hot, rest is good. But I can’t do homebodies, I like girls that give me a reason to go do stuff.

Except the mall, gag me with a spoon.
