Maybe Beeps took off her bra before putting on the dress?

I took it as in panel 1, Roko turned to look at Beeps unaware that she was in her underwear. So in panel 2, she turned away and put her hand up to block the view.
I assumed Roko’s gesture was “Ewwww that weird AI bar” rather than averting her gaze from Beeps. Robot-data loading would also make sense. I didn’t think it was modesty since Roko was presumably on the bed when Beeps got undressed as well and, if it was a thing, she would have just left the room.
Melon and Lemon are sisters, aren’t they? Or from the same manufacturing lot, or whatever the AI equivalent of siblings is. Same body model. It occurred to me last night that in addition to that, their names are anagrams. Don’t know if that was intentional on Jeph’s part, or just a happy accident.
I’d be amazed if it wasn’t intentional. Very Jeph-like
Names are fun! You can do all kinds of neat things with them.

No Lemon, no Melon.
No X in Nixon.
Lisa Bonet ate no basil.
Naomi, I moan.
Oh no, Don Ho!
O Geronimo, no minor ego.
Ah, Satan sees Natasha
Madam I’m Adam.
“Eve.”
Or the very best palindrome, as reported by the Perfect Master himself: “Satan, oscillate my metallic sonatas”.
I find it weird that Roko’s body has duck feet with just the big toe separated. And knowing that she picked that intentionally when she selected her body (since Beeps has five regular toes per foot).
Unless she’s supposed to be curling her toes? Maybe? Doesn’t really look like it but I could accept it…
Presumably, her feet look like that because that’s how her feet were on her old body, so it might not necessarily have been something she chose originally. Maybe “separate toes” weren’t in fashion when she got her original bod. It looks like Melon doesn’t even have an individual big toe, so I think this is just a subtle nod to the variety in forms available to AIs.
Maybe, but she was upgraded into the flagship model when she got crushed and her old body was no longer being made (plus a robust insurance payout). That doesn’t mean the flagship model had toes though. Maybe it’s their distinctive brand.
Melon has more of the “robot” look to her chassis versus the more human-y looking bodies on the rest. I always look that to be more of a “Less expensive” model (May was the same) but I’m sure some would just like the look.
Mille has a more human-y body but we don’t see her feet to compare. Is there a way I can tell Jeph that we need to see Mille’s feet without it sounding weird? ![]()
Yeah, I kinda feel like Roko is directly addressing us in today’s strip. ![]()
Bubbles and Faye have a spat in their work relationship. “Take an early lunch.” I wonder how this resolves.
Seems like manufactured drama to me, must admit I’m not looking forward to it playing out. Much rather have a wedding storyline or something.
Faye was definitely in the wrong about this, and showed her ass with the crack about Bubbles’ attitude. Bubs did the right thing trying to de-escalate the situation. But yeah, this feels a little out of left field, as Faye’s been shown to take her AI work more seriously than she did working at CoD.
Well that was an exceptionally dull story.
Once upon a time, Faye & Bubbles had a fight then, an hour later, they made up. The end.
On the other hand, I really didn’t want four months of Faye/Bubbles tiff drama so I guess we should count ourselves lucky.
The resolution conversation needed more than four frames IMO, as it is it comes across a bit rushed like “oh, they got an hour to cool off and now everyone can say sorry and I love you, NEXT!”
But yeah, just a couple extra strips, not a month’s worth.
Nice to see Hanners, though. Even if she was covered in wildebeest poop.
You mean “especially if”, don’t you?
