I don't quite get today's "Questionable Content" strip

To show what type of nerd I am, I’ve actually used the unofficial fan timeline plus the principles they used to make it to get an idea of how long the comic has been going in-universe–just for fun.

By my calculations the last time I did this*, it’s only been winter, spring, and summer since that timeline ended. So it’s been about 15 months give or take.

*I did it to find out how long Tai and Dora has been dating before they got engaged. It came to around 9–12 months, IIRC.

And, yes, this is where I got the dates in my joke above. Though, as the blurb says, the exact time there is variable. It’s a different timeline/universe, after all.

How’s THAT for a fuckin’ callback this one is subtitled. Callback to?

Nice!

he changed how claire looks again tho sort of back to her original look

I’ve drawn the same character over and over even longer than Jeph has drawn Claire and every single time she looks different, so I can’t judge.

Jeph moved to Nova Scotia a few years ago. Any guesses as to whether he’s going to relocate QC there, plans to start a spin-off strip with Claire and Marten there, or is just faking us out?

I’d think relocating the setting is the least likely scenario, as many characters as he’d need to uproot to keep it anywhere near the same cast. If he only has the two move, it’s going to be a huge reset on the strip.

Meh. The less Marten this strip has, the better.

I don’t see Jeph getting rid of Claire from the strip. Marten, sure – he’s pretty much abandoned years ago. The Cast page even calls him “former protagonist”.

Aren’t we jumping the gun here? For all we know, Claire’s gonna totally blow the interview.

Maybe she’ll be making appearance via hologram, like the people up in Station (and Station), given the whole tech AI angle of the new location. Though I’d be perfectly fine with Marten and Claire wandering off into the sunset. Not as though QC doesn’t have umpteen other women whose personality profile is primarily just “adorkable” to fill the void.

All he needs to do is introduce four or five wacky female characters and a few hostile robots and he’s right back to normal.

Or she gets the job, but it turns out to be entirely WFH.

Or their world starts including things like transporters.

We have had long periods of time in which multiple sets of characters have not interacted with one another. It wouldn’t be extraordinary if Jeph split the party.

as ive said before ive thought he was going to reset the strip by having claire and tai move on and have Hannelore buy/or be given the coffeeshop so maybe he’s going to have the casts whos rarely there move on but if you’ve noticed even the b-cast has changed a bit …its either bubbles and faye with the kids or the robots …the bakery/bar crew haven’t made an appearance since claires brother and bread guy started going out

Is Marten slowly getting more Anime.

Yeah, and we haven’t seen Penelope or Raven in a long time.
