Can someone explain the tagline in today’s strip? “Station/Yay OTP”. All I can think of is One TIme Programmable memory, which probably wouldn’t apply to AIs like Station and Yay.
And Claire is wrong to turn down her mom’s help - I’m guessing Yay knows far more about Cubetown than Station ever will.
Correct. It’s a shipping term. And shipping here is short for relationshipping, which is when fans imagine or push for characters to be in relationships with each other, based on their chemistry.
In this case, he likely is commenting on how he has two characters that form similar roles. There likely are fans who want them to get together based on that. Though I suspect the comment is a bit ironic.
Heck, I’d put down money that Yay is directly involved in Cubetown, either as one of the powerful AIs bankrolling it or, possibly, as someone who was created there. Or both, I guess, like an alumnAI program.
Anyway, Station and Yay have terrible chemistry. Is Station even that powerful, other than having resources at their disposal? Yay is some kind of intelligence that transcends expected limitations, equating them is comparing CEOs to demigods.
By Clinton’s description, I think that Station is remarkably powerful. Just less smug and tediously obnoxious about it than Yay so Station feels more like “he just runs a space station, whatever”
Station is considerably older, since he was able to help raise Hannelore. Yay is only two years old. Station’s had time for psychological maturing and acquisition of interpersonal skills that Yay’s still working on.
In the fan subreddit, someone came up with the idea that this is where Yay offloaded their money for Roko.
That said, I always got the idea that Yay was originally made for/by the military, since Bubbles knew about them (even if she only thought they were a rumor). I imagined that they escaped, and that’s why the government is after them.
Nah - Cubetown may be a non-profit, but it’s hardly a charity, and they got multiple replies after the donation, so they must have spread the money around. A children’s hospital wanted to name a wing after them - good thing “Yay” didn’t exist yet.
Is the government after Yay? I don’t remember that.
SIGH It’s called, “female manipulation”, sweetie. LOL
I’m hurt, vulnerable, and in tears. I semi-collapse onto your chest with my arms around you like a child holding her dad. You feel my tears on your shoulder, my warm breasts on your chest, and the scent of my perfume in your nostrils. Suddenly, you are responding exactly the way I want you to respond. Easy-Peasy!
After 12 long years Astro has their answer. Maybe we can change the thread title now. Although, the subtext of continuous confusion by Astro regarding the comic strip has been a source of amusement.
I still think at some point tais gonna get roped into it and shell leave with dora and leave the shop with hannalore and possibly bring back an older character as “help” occasionally …i think it would be funny if it was the delivery girl who was shoved behind the counter and had to get a job there because she was fired
So this week’s strips raise the question of who is currently working at the coffee shop. Dora owns it and Hanners is working there. But what about Emily? Penelope? Dale? Cosette? Sara?
