New one is up. It seems Jeph must have had several saved up, because he’s posting strips untypically early.
Can’t say that I’m too sad to see the Dora/Marten relationship end, really.
Yeah, me too. I suppose we could rewrite this strip’s dialog to read that we’re ALL sick of her crap. Jeez, Dora.
I’m cheering wildly for Marten/Hanners, even though I know it will probably never happen.
I’m cheering for me/Hanners, and that’s even less likely (since I’m married and she’s fictional).
I do feel some sympathy for Dora, because I tend to be a bit of an emotional wreck myself. But because I recognize that a lot of my reactions are irrational and ridiculous, I turn it inward and let the feelings fizzle and die down until my rational self kicks in again. Dora just seems to vomit her emotions all over the place, and justifies it with “Well I’m fucked up so you’re just going to have to be understanding about it oh yeah I’m sorta sorry I guess.” She never seems to be sincerely sorry for her irrational actions, and that’s what really annoyed me about her.
Hey, Jeph did today’s xkcd!
Aww, today’s strip made me a little teary.
Just to make sure I’m understanding today’s strip correctly, Sven is helping Dora move out, correct?
I’d assume yes, and that Dora will be living at Sven’s temporarily.
Yeah, that’s why he offered to go back later, because it’d be awkward moving her stuff out around Martin.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Dora within the strip. Marten, after all, has been the main character and presumedly that will continue. Will Dora get dropped down to minor supporting character status, like Penelope for example?
They’re gonna get back together. Probably two thousand strips from now, but I bet they’ll get back together.
That should make it…what? Next Monday, strip time?
Heh.
No, though. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, so we’ll have the turkeys shipping each other to the various girls in the strip; then Shouting Bird on Friday. Then he’ll wormhole to a different time on Monday.
I have been giggling all day about today’s Specials.

I am easily amused, I guess.
Uh, oh - Marten’s Mom is going to be visiting.
Marten’s Mom: “If you hurt my boy I will introduce you to a whole new realm of pain and suffering. We’re talkin’ stuff that would make Heironymous Bosch shit his brithces, capisce?” Of course, that was said to Faye before the Faye Incident and Marten getting together with Dora. However, Dora is feeling her grave goosed today, so we’ll see.
Complicated by the fact that Marten’s mom was one of Dora’s earliest teen-age crushes. What could go wrong?
My first thought* was “clever man.” This could be a great way to get the ‘good parts’ of a Dora-in-therapy storyline, without buildup time or introducing a new character. Mistress Reed has been distanced from the whole thing, so you can do the therapy ‘explain from your point of view, interpret and advise from a neutral standpoint thing, and dominatri (I know, dominatrice is the correct plural, but that sounds like a 3rd string D&D monster. I like mine better) are often used to dealing with this sort of thing.
Or possibly, a ‘Martin stands up to someone’ moment. Or, possibly both. Not that either would prevent a bunch of funny AUUGH I’M GONNA DIE bits.
I’m kind of curious to see what she’ll look like. We haven’t seen an older adult character for a couple of art evolutions.
On that note, Tai seems to have lost a few tattoos, though she kept the worst one. (Does ANYONE like those elbow-point things?) I like the asymmetrical look for Hanners, but she needs her eye-bags back. Otherwise, she looks too much like Dora.

- Well, second thought. First thought was “Oh, no! A month-long storyline consisting of nothing but semiconsentual lesbian discipline! Oh, no, because that would be . . . that would be . . . terrible. Really.”
Here’s what she looked like in her first (and only) story line.
(Huh, I never noticed the blush that Dora gets in this strip; we later find out that Dora at one time had the hots for “Mrs Reed’s” dominatrix porn character, so I guess this foreshadows (or fore-blushes) that.)
ETA: also note Mom’s speech to Faye in the final panel of this one. Dora may get her ass-whipped by Marten’s Mom, but she’d probably like that.
