Yeah, that bugged me too. Male/male is “slash”, and female/female might be called slash too, though people would be more likely to say “femmeslash”, but male/female is “het”. I think it’s a Doylist thing - Tai would know the correct terminology, but Jeph doesn’t.
Maybe in Tai’s story, the main character is Martina.

The origins of slash may lie in pornographic male/male star trek fanfiction, but these days it’s pretty inclusive of all gender combinations.
As much as I hate entropic language evolution, I think this has to stand.The word “Slash” has fallen prey to Buckley’s Law.

I think you’ve confused Emily (the one in this strip, who indeed looks Asian) with Claire, who is…rather intensely Gaelic looking, and bears a strong resemblance to Clinton, even ignoring the fact that any two given characters in Jeph’s style are going to have a lot of points in common.

And then I thought maybe they were half-siblings, and only Hannelore, with her OCD, would immediately notice the resemblance like that.
