I don't quite get today's "Questionable Content" strip

Is it just me or are Dale’s eyes glowing more than usual? I’m half expecting him to start shooting out optic beams like Cyclops.

I don’t know if Jeph is doing it for this reason or not, but Dale’s eyes glow pretty much just like Night Elf eyes glow.

Dale’s eyeglasses demonstrating a trope at this point.

He used to have eyeballs.

Apparently we find out what’s going on with Dale’s glases tomorrow

Thing is, most eyeglass lenses have anti-reflection coatings to prevent that from happening. Also, that kind of reflection can really only happen on flat pieces of glass - eyeglass lenses are not that.

I just wanted to mention this strip from a few days ago:

As soon as Emily said “pitch a tent”, I had exactly the same reaction Claire’s having, before I noticed she was having it

I’m guessing the QC-universe tech equivalent of Google Glass.

On Dale’s wage as a pizza-delivery boy? Even in the super-high-tech world of QC that seems unlikely.

It does? Marten could afford his own autonomous sentient robot when he made barely twenty thousand dollars a year, had thousands of dollars in student loans, and could barely afford to pay his rent each month and still buy food. VR-superconnected interactive eyeshades must be under a buck in the QC-verse. For two bucks they’d have telepathic ones.

Additionally, Marigold is a coffee barista and has a top of the line anthro. I guess she does some side work doing webpages, but how much could that add?

I think all Marigold does is webpage work (for her father?), she’s not a barista.
And her anthro got a job to help pay for her new chassis. Wow, I know way too much about this comic…

Actually, I think Marigold is one of the few females in the strip who haven’t ended up working in the coffee shop (of Dooooom). And the anthro is working a job to help pay for the upgrade (although it is admittedly a minimum wage job).

Now that I think of it, maybe that’s why all the characters in QC work such crappy jobs. All the ascended AIs do all the cushy office and engineering jobs. For the humans, there’s nothing left to do.

I think Marigold is a freelance web designer (she even said she pays taxes and stuff to Faye). Possibly home-based tech support given her skills and shut-in nature.

AnthroPCs are more adopted/friended than anything else (although Jeph made some references to warranties and other stuff that fits in more with a purchased PC). I think extra chassis are what cost more money. It is occasionally brought up that Marten got a great deal on Pintsize’s current chassis as it is military and worth much more than he paid for it.

Marigold’s sole (known) income is from working on her dad’s web site.

Right, real job, although the only work she seems to do is on her Dad’s shoe store

Yeah, half the female characters work in the coffee shop and the other half work in the library. Marigold seems to be the only female character who doesn’t have one of those two jobs.

Well, Marten’s mom…

Mystery solved!

Biffy called it. So its a glow not a reflection. Hmmm,

I hope he’s building to something, because that AI is horribly annoying and unpleasant.
