I don't quite get today's "Questionable Content" strip

Yes, it’s like he finally found a way to write Yelling Bird into the main continuity.

I think it’s a way to finally get some character development for Dale. But yeah, via an AI with apparently no redeeming characteristics. STFU, May.

I know May the Maid can’t be seen by the other people, but I wonder if she CAN be seen/interact with the AnthroPCs. The next meeting with Dale, Marigold and Momo could be interesting.

I was thinking Pintsize is going to love May…

Wow, look at that – Faye’s family (including still-alive father) made a cameo appearance in Dumbing of Age yesterday.

I was thinking of how she would interact with the other holographic AI the near omnipotent “Station” of her dad’s space station who has a crush on Hannelore.

Would Pintsize or Station even be able to see her? I thought you had to be wearing the glasses.

Not sure about Pintsize, but whatever allows Station to manifest as a visible AI would certainly work for May if he allowed her to run on his hardware.

Pintsize would voluntarily wear the glasses if it meant he got to interact with an AI as sick as he is.

I’m sure there will be a shortrange AI-AI comms protocol.

The Anthro-PCs always seem to just be talking to each other.

So May really is just a noseless Momo as made clear in todays strip.

Not sure about the comms protocol, but Momo can hear and interact with her.

This storyline is not very interesting. We already have Pintsize, we already have Momo. We already have L32…whatever the Linux AnthroPC is named. Don’t really need another AI with 'tude in the mix. I know Jeph loves to add characters but this one has zero interest to me and I hope she ends up in the robotic jail incinerators.

Yea, I’m not thrilled with May either. She’s just an unrepentant bitch, and Dale is only putting up with her because he’s a doormat.

Be interesting to see if Momo knows May outside of Dale (she seems to know May is an inmate, so seems likely). I just don’t see the big turnaround May is supposed to have from interacting with a person. She’s too acerbic for my tastes.

But, whatever, it’s Jeph’s comic.

She maybe could just read her IP address, and May is probably “tagged” with a code to prevent other AIs from granting her unauthorized access.

I think that May is simply a vehicle by which to get Dale and Marigold to interact for more than half a sentence at a time - no more, no less.

One can hope - that’s been a long time coming.

Hopefully she gets her parole or whatever for sparking romance and we don’t have to deal with her anymore.

No, I think the key factor was the promise of $1500 if he put up with her for two days. Granted, May subsequently told him he could get his money early but he’s honorable enough to stick with the original deal he agreed to.

But as far as I can tell, Dale only has May’s word for it about the $1500.

I’d say Momo is more responsible for that right now. Mai will be the ‘wacky hijinks’ that will mess up the meeting once again.

Why is Dale the only person who can hear May? I can understand him being the only one who can see her - her image is being projected on to the lens of his glasses. But the glasses don’t have earplugs so he must be hearing her via speakers in the sidepieces. May’s normal speaking voice may be tuned low enough in volume to not be overheard but when she yells something, people standing nearby should be able to hear it.

Or is this a case where I need to tell myself it’s just a webcomic and I should really just relax?

Presumably they work the same way as Google Glass, by transducing sound to the wearer by direct contact.
