I don't quite get today's "Questionable Content" strip

“Homeric” is, I believe, the adjective.

If they come loose, they’ll strike you blind?

You probably already know that some of my Horde toons have joke names - I have an orc warrior named Pinezensuuz (which nobody outside the SDMB would get), and a hot little blood elf warlock named Hexpot. And I used to have an undead mage named Wossname, as a Pratchett tribute. The majority of my toons have “proper” names.

That’s frickin’ awesome.

Anyone seen today’s strip?

It’s kind of painful, I’ve been there, done that. :frowning:

You told her that skirt made her ass look fat?
I’m a little perturbed about all the no-consequences guy-punching the last couple of strips.

Since Angus got punched off-camera, I’ll make up what happened:

After Faye and Hanners brought baked goods, Angus asked for a donut. So he got a Hertz donut from Faye.

I love Hanners’ face in the second panel

You could spend ten years wandering around on them?

As opposed to the first 1600 stripes of no-consequence guy-punching?

Well, we usually don’t see a pair of men used as a punching bag in adjacent strips. So it has escalated somewhat. And Faye was supposedly getting better and not doing this, but now both her and Dora battering their men.

I don’t understand people getting worked up over the punching. The consequences of a boyfriend telling their girlfriend “they look fat in that skirt” - even as a joke - would result in a heated diatribe of anger/perturbation. Who wants to read 4 paragraphs of anger in a comic strip, when a light “you deserved that” jab in the arm expresses the exact same thing? This isn’t domestic abuse - it’s “show them, don’t tell them” storytelling.

I’m not worked up about it, I can see it’s in service of a punchline. It’s more of a “wtf, Jeph?” thing for me – Faye is supposedly getting over some of her issues and less prickly than before, she’s trying really hard to be okay with getting closer to Angus. And then she up and punches the guy on this “playdate” she arranged specifically to hang out with him. It just doesn’t add up.

Anyway, this really isn’t a big deal to me, and I’ll sleep fine tonight and the strip will proceed and I’ll keep reading it, it’s a good strip. I just think the punching was a bit much, but what the hell.

I think “bsns” is short for bosons.

Or maybe bassoons.

Not sure which.
:stuck_out_tongue:

Plus the actual use of icepacks is a tad over the top if he’s just trying to be cute. It’s one thing to say “ow, need some ice on this, she’s feisty today/I shot off my mouth”, but when it’s shown that the guys are actually using icepacks, that makes me a little WTF-y about it.

Is Tai supposed to be of some non-Caucasian ethnicity? Or does she just use bad artificial tanner? She has that weird looking orange skin tone.

This is the same comic strip that has anthropomorphic PCs, The Vespa Avenger, secret agents, etc. It’s a not-serious comic masquerading as a normal if witty relationship comic. Jeph’s not above going for visual gags.

I’ve always taken her as ambiguously brown.

Latina imo.

Apparently the artist got a fan spanking for a particularly gratuitous scene and changed it.

I thought the Friday comic was a bit exploitative of poor little Sweet-tits getting firecrackers shot out of her ass crack by Yelling Bird, but some people really didn’t like it so he changed it mid-stream to the reverse..

I’ve never seen him do that before.
