I guess that inadvertently answered the “is she pre- or post-op?” question.
Because being nervous over ear-piercing makes no damn sense for one of those.

Huh. I’m surprised she went through with it.
After panel 3, I was thinking the whole thing was just a setup shaggy dog story for the pun.
I don’t know about that. I’ve had an organ removed (in my case, a gall bladder, not a penis) and I’m still squeamish about the idea of getting a piercing.
…did Marty really think that stupid pun was hilarious, or is he just being polite?
Love the sign in the piercing parlor, by the way.
‘Polite’ stops well before the door of the piercing parlour, I would think. (Actually, since it’s freaking out the piercer, it’s moved into the territory of impolite…)
I think he’s laughing at how clumsy the pun was.
He’s not laughing with Claire.
That is significantly more assholish behaviour than Marten has ever been shown to engage in.
The writer’s note at the bottom of “Claire has really good delivery” doesn’t really support that. No, Jeph really just enjoys the idea of these two becoming a great couple, forced jokes/puns included.
I want more Hanners.
I understand that she likes fruit. Perhaps Jeph could explore that facet of her personality in more detail.
(Seriously, I enjoyed the last panel of that strip WAYYY more than seems probable.)
Me too. I’m not sure how I can be so charmed by a comic character, but I am.
OK, I have a couple of things to say:
[ol]
[li]I really like Bubbles.[/li][li]I like that Bubbles got pretty for the party (black lipstick suits her!)[/li][li]I totally ship Bubbles and Pintsize[/li][li]Did I mention I really like Bubbles?[/li][/ol]
I hadn’t noticed that. A nice touch.
It would be hilarious if Pintsize got a crush on Bubbles and ended up shy and awkward around her.
That would be great, actually, especially if Pintsize didn’t conclude a panel with a stupid crude joke.
Bubbles is an interesting character (Jeph has a lot of those). An AI with PTSD.
Jeph took a character I had absolutely no interest in following and made me care about her very much, all in a two week period.
In my opinion, he’s getting up there with Alison Bechdel in his genius for sustaining a huge variety of lovable and empathetic characters.
In today’s strip, I also acknowledge ol’ crazy May for the credit she gives Dale for being so patient and good to her throughout the story arc of her first appearance (as the invisible robot French maid). I don’t think she ever before mentioned that she was grateful to him.
Plus, I wanna see Bubbles crushing coal chunks into diamonds with her ass.
May, Hanners and Steve cracked me up in today’s strip (3076), with “I want fuck-pics”, the recursive apology, and Steve deciding to sleep in the bathroom.
Today’s strip, #3079, featured the scariest thing I think Jeph has ever drawn. Don’t mess with a librarian INDEED. (You should see the previous comic for context).
My question about today’s strip would be - why does Faye have birdseed on hand?
Why not? A lot of people like to feed birds.
