I recall that quoting the entire previous post is something that people complained about way back in the old days, so I can understand the reason for this feature.
Examples:
What is it with all these morons lately who quote an entire OP in the second post of a thread? I can barely contain my rage when someone does it three or four posts down, but at least they’ve got the paper-thin excuse that the OP was not the last thing we read.
What the fuck is going on in these people’s heads when they do this? Do they think our attention spans are so shallow that the thin blue line between the OP and their post erases our memories as we read down the page?

Nothing pisses me off more than people who feel the need to quote someone’s entire freakin’ post in their responses. If you would like to address a specific statement, quote it, and it alone. You do not have to fucking paste the whole damn thing in your response. If you would like to reply to the post overall, just address the person with your questions/comments/misc concerns.
Allow me to demonstrate. Here is an example of someone having a question about a specific remark:

I just had one, and although the reply was nice the quoting of my entire post in the only reply that had been posted is redundant.
Okay, quote parts, quote a snippit but not the entire post people, sheesh.
If you must, just say “regarding the OP” or “regarding the original post” which is acceptable when things have gone off topic or you want to clarify your response. But PLEASE don’t quote the entire OP especially when you are the first to respond to …
