I Feel So Bad Right Now

Euty, don’t underestimate the value of a sympathetic ear. Sometimes having someone to talk to about your problems helps immeasurably. So don’t think you’re doing nothing when you’re listening.

You’re a sweetie. {{{Euty}}}

Euty, once again you have proven yourself to be one of the sweetest and most caring people I know.

I will second the idea of considering the offers for donations. Perhaps a glimpse at the kind things that perfect strangers (or anyone else) are willing to do will help motivate her into making those life changes she wants and needs. Otherwise (or additionally) please remain a caring ear and shoulder for this woman. She sounds like she needs a special friend and that’s something I’m sure you can be.

I feel for that lady. I feel for those kids. Christmas is a lousy time for something like this to happen to anyone. I’d love to help, but I’m already helping someone else in this situation. My dad ran off and left my mother with about $4000 in bills and she is starting to get so far in debt to where people are going to take our house from us. I work 20 hours a week while in college and I give every dime of what I make to my mother. It makes me feel so many times more special knowing that I am helping her save the house that she loves rather than get something for Christmas. I feel bad for my little sister though. She won’t be getting anything so she thinks, but I’ve scrapped, saved, and sold some of my stuff to be able to get her something. I’d just like to say to all of you that do help this lady Thank You. Your effort will be appreciated forever by her I can guarentee it.

I’ve talked to Jenny (TUBADIVA) about the questions surrounding doing this and we decided, what the hell, let’s do it.

If you’d like to help out (and you trust me enough) you can send it to me at :

Patrick Malone
P. O. Box 1155
West Warwick, RI 02893

Send it ASAP, because I’d like to be able to get something to her from us before the month is up and the rent is due again.

Thanks to you all. You’ve made me proud to be a doper . (((Everyone)))

DAMMIT! You guys make being an evil wizard with dreams of world domination almost impossible to bear, sometimes!

Check’s on the way, Euty.

Just bumping this up to the top so it doesn’t escape onto the second page.

I just stuck an envelope in the mail.

Check’s in the mail, Eutychus, or it will be before the day is out. You’re a good man.

Euty, How old are the kids? I’m on my own with two kiddies so cash is not abundant but the boys have both volunteered to send a gift if that’s Ok. They love the idea of playing Santa!

Euty, you amaze me. Add my voice to the chorus of volunteers to help out. With any luck, the check will be in the mail by the end of today. God bless, and Merry Christmas.

Back to the top, little thread.

Just finished addressing the envelope - it will be on its way tomorrow… This is a wonderful idea!

Would it be okay to send a check written out in your name? I don’t want to send cash through the mail, especially during the holidays.

I got some unexpected $$ this Christmas - time to spread it around. Check’s going out today.

That’d be fine, and I’ll just sign them over to her. Either that or just leaving the payee line blank and she can fill it in herself, whichever you feel more comofrtable with.

Just bumpin’ this up one more time …

Euty, Ogre, and all you caring dopers, you are the best!

Regarding cheques in the mail and options:
I would advise against leaving the payee line blank, as you might as well be sending cash in mail, for all its availability to others; fill it out to the middle man and let him deal with it. (In addition, many people would feel odd filling their name in on the cheque of a total stranger, donation or no.)

Eutychus, it strikes me that a cheque is easy to refuse, if she’s inclined to keep pride from letting her accept: she needn’t cash it. A money order, a direct deposit, or some other form of transfer might work better, especially as they can be anonymous.

And thanks for the reminder, always welcome, that it is possible to reach out to and share with others, any time of year.

Check’s in the mail!

Euty, how about just cashing all the checks and giving her the moolah?

And I thought my day sucked.

I don’t have a whole lot to give 'cuz I ain’t rich to begin with, but I do have a $25 JC Penny gift certificate my husband gave me. Since the nearest store isn’t that near and I’m thinking your friend could stand to buy herself something nice, would my “recycling” the certificate be okay?
