A long time Doper (and didn’t even know what I was called), I ran across this post from the front page of the SD site. So to post that I had sent the check, I signed up. So my first post on here is to help out others.

I just saw this thread - is it too late to send something? Will be Tuesday before it gets in the mail. Won’t be much, but I’d like to contribute what I can. It would be nice to help her start the new millenium with a brighter outlook on life!

I am stuck in chicago for the holidays due to work and weather, while my family is on the west coast. I’m leaving in a few minutes to help out at a shelter and trying to keep in mind that even though I am alone and don’t have all that much money, I certainly have it better than some and I have the power to make someones Christmas day just a little better.

For anyone in such a position in the future, the Marine Corps Reserve does Toys For Tots. I loved seeing the faces of people when we were able to give them toys for their kids that they otherwise wouldn’t have bene able to provide. It was one of the best things I was able to do in the Corps.
I know you said that present weren’t a big concern, but still…
I’m going to assume it’s never too late.

I missed this thread the first time around, and wanted to contribute. I realize that Christmas is over, but I checked with Euty and he said to send whatever I wanted…there are still bills to pay, and etc. So, I want to bump this thread in case anyone else missed it the first time.
I just want to take this opportunity to say that I think Euty is one of the kindest, sweetest, most loving friends I have ever been priviledged to know. I pray that if I am ever in the sort of trouble that this lady finds herself in, God will send an angel to me the way He sent Euty to this lady.
