I finally got married

I’ve been meaning to post this for a while, but am just now getting around to it.

As some you may know, I’ve been engaged three times. The first fiancee turned out to be a two-faced, um, what’s a nice word for what I want to say… ok, there isn’t one, so insert your own adjective here.

The second fiancee, well, we all saw more of her on the boards than we would have liked. In my arrogance, I thought I could clean her up and get her to stop the excessive drinking and drug use. Like the first fiancee tried to change me, I tried to change fiancee #2, and I should’ve known that wouldn’t work out. Although that relationship ended for good on an amiable note, we are now completely out of one another’s lives and do not keep in touch at all.

So, as the saying goes, the third times the charm. My current ex-fiancee is store-clerk-slacker, who pops by the boards to post occassionally. Unlike the others, she’s not an ex-fiancee because we broke up, but because we actually did the deed and tied the knot and etc, etc. She is now Mrs. Frog. Or I am Mr. Slacker, we haven’t worked out who’s in charge yet. (She would probably like to think she is, but I’m working on some graphs and other visual aids to prove that I am. Polls will also be taken to see where popular opinion stands.) I do know she’s in charge in the kitchen. Not because of any chauvanism or decades-old gender roles, but because she can cook, whereas my best meal is making waffles as long as I have Bisquick handy. The last time she let me touch a frying pan was when it hit me in the head as it fell out of the cupboard while I was looking for a mixing bowl. Even then I got a stern remonstration about how much those cast-iron skillets cost.

So anyway, we got married. That’s the point of this thread. We had a big wedding with a reception planned for February, but for financial and other reasons we scrapped those plans, ate the deposit on the reception hall, and went to Vegas to get married in October.

Vegas was great. We stayed at the Luxor, and there’s tons of pics. I’ll see if I can’t find somewhere to post them and then link here for anyone interested. And that’s pretty much all for now. I just wanted to pop in and give an update for any old-timers who may give a shit.

On a side note, after I discuss it with the new wife, there may be a St. Louis Dopefest/house-warming party at my new place sometime in the new year (won’t be till after I’m out of school and people aren’t doing family-obligation things).

So far, married life hasn’t been much different from being single. I just find I ask permission more often.

[sub]Heeey… I think I need to re-work my “Who’s in Charge” charts…[/sub]

Congratulations! That sounds fun and great and wonderful and all those nice words. I have also been engaged twice and married nonce ( know that is not a real word, I don’t care). So, I 'll just keep my hopes up fpr the next one. It seems to have worked out for you.

You’re trying to use logic with a woman? Let me know how that works out for you.

Congrats Crunchy. May you and the Mrs. hatch many tadpoles.

Not logic so much as colorful graphs and other visual aids which are all perfectly color coordinated and go with her favorite shoes and purse. Luckily, they also look nice with the new window treatments.

And lulu and swampbear, thanks for the congrats, it’s been more than we’ve been getting from some family members. (Keep an eye out for the upcoming related Pit thread on that topic.)

Congrats!
Remember, the day you married, you went from being Mr. Right to Mr. Always Wrong.

Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Frog-Hyphenated-Slacker! I had not seen **Crunchy Frog **'s name around for a very long time, so it appears he has been busy.

Lots of happiness to you both!
