I GOT A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH YOU PEOPLE-A Festivus Eve MMP

Merry Christmas!

Nifty snake, Shoe

Happy Almost Birthday, SJH!

Yes, of course I’m up stupid early, despite imagining that the idiot dog would be exhausted enough to sleep in at least a little bit…

The big day-after-Christmas plan is pretty much: laundry. Lots of it. **FCD **wavered yesterday, but he’s decided to take today off. He’ll be futzing with his bike. I’ll also have to clean up the breakfast bar counter in the kitchen - we dumped all our stuff there last night, so it’s a mess.

I talked with my future nephew-in-law yesterday and now I know what to do for his afghan/wedding present. Just gotta order the yarn. So I’ve got a project to start the new year.

For the moment, tho, I need to decide whether to attempt to go back to bed or not. <yawn>

Happy Firday!

That’s what bothers you about that movie? Not the airlock scene? Not the disturbing implications of using pills as food? Not the menacing robot that turns into a toy as soon as he sees Santa? Not the complete disregard for the laws of time and space?

:dubious:

This cracked me up.

My sister gave me this.

So I took out the candy.

Would you call it false advertising?

Lest there be misunderstanding, I’m not upset or even bothered by this, just amused. Now, if the candies had been chocolates, that would have been another story!!!

Am I the only one getting a warning I need to upgrade my software popup from those pages? Yea, right, like that’s gonna happen!

I didn’t get any warnings - you’ve got a bug!

Jeans are on the line and towels are in the washer. I’d left my bucket of clothespins out on the deck in stead of hanging them under the porch as I usually do. Luckily, we’d drilled drain holes in the bucket, so it’s not full of water and ice. Unfortunately, it didn’t get warm and dry enough yesterday to dry out the clothespins, so as I opened each one, there was a little snap as the film of ice released. But it’s supposed to be sunny and low 50s today, so it’s a good drying day!

Meanwhile, my fingers need to thaw - it’s still below freezing out there right now.

I didn’t get a popup, either.

I guess somebody has to do the math stuff. :dubious: Otherwise, she sounds OK. We’ll let her stay.

Good morning, happy Friday, happy “I survived yet another Christmas and all I got was this lousy t-shirt,” or whatever you might celebrate today.

Happy Boxing Day!
A day where Canadains gather together, punch each other, and say “Sorry”.*
Up, caffeinated, off to work. I have a sniffle or something.

FCM, that’s a good amount of candy, cardboard, and mug for a buck.

*Completely untrue

All the laundry (for today) is on the line and drying. I did 3 loads today and I’ll do 3 more tomorrow. Which works out great, since it’s supposed to rain again starting Sunday.

Now, what to do with the rest of my day…

So? What’d y’all get for Christmas?

And we got TWO of them, except I left one at my brother’s house.

My sister feels like she *HAS *to give everyone a gift, and inevitably, it’s dollar store crap. Most of it ends up going to the local thrift store, and I expect that candy will just go in the trash - I’m pretty sure it’s not very good.

I wish she’d save her dollars, but she refuses to consider it. Makes me crazy every year.

What I got for Christmas - some comics, a novel by a local author which won a prize, some money, gift certificates to stores I often go to, and assorted odds and ends. Good stuff. And I have chocolate to last the rest of the year.

Honestly, all I was expecting was our $10 gag gifts and a plate of cookies from my mom. But Mom also gave me some slippers, my sweetie got a bottle of Fireball Whiskey, and she gave us a check (I’m getting a smoker!!!) My sister, as mentioned, gave us each those mugs with candies. My bro and his girlfriend gave everybody a small box of Guylian chocolates. My niece gave me fuzzy socks and a box of mixed nuts, and my nephew gave us a big sack of bird seed (??) and a gift card for Home Depot. The bird seed confuses me because we don’t have feeders, we’ve never had feeders, and I’ve certainly never talked about feeding birds. But when I retrieve it, I’ll just fling it on the lawn and let the birds and squirrels go wild.

Our $10 gifts were a plastic sack dispenser that looks like a lady in a long flowered dress, and a kinda cool bank that my sister’s tenant got at a museum. The only reason I ended up with the sack dispenser is my niece really wanted the glasses I’d picked, and I didn’t want them at all, so she was happy, and I’m going to send the flowered dress lady to my MIL. We’ve already got a gizmo for our plastic bags and I’m quite happy with it.

And my niece’s fiance picked the box of beans that I’d taken, and she was thrilled. That girl *LURVES *baked beans, so she’s now got 5 assorted flavors. I guess she’ll share them with her fiance, since it was his gift and all…

And, per usual, **FCD **and I didn’t bother exchanging gifts. I can’t recall the last time we did. And I can’t think of anything I’d have wanted anyway - maybe a truckload of yarn? He wants stuff for his workshop, but that’s why he went back to work. The stuff he wants is expensive and I wouldn’t know how to pick out what he needs.

I feel like Purplehorseshoe’s commenting on LavenderBlue’s post must be read with this musical accompaniment.

This is completely untrue; they say, “Sorry, eh.” :stuck_out_tongue:

May one put coal on the grill?

Yipee! I’m so glad my gift arrived on time. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, but I prefer the taste of grilled meat to grilled anthracite. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m at irk with a food hangover. I ate so much yesterday that I didn’t have room for dessert, which was homemade lumberjack cake. OK, I had a sliver piece and boy, it wuz gud!

FCM, do you not have a clothes dryer at FC Estates?

Boxing Day in Canada is mostly known for its insane sales (like Black Friday.) I’m not going to any sales today, though. All I bought today was a coffee. There was no music playing in the cafe so it was unusually quiet.

I’m already working on music arrangements for next Christmas.

Happy Firday!

It’s cold and sunny today. I’m glad it’s sunny, I can open the blinds instead of turning on the light.

I need to wash clothes today, and give the dog his bath.

I got clothes for xmas and I really needed them. Now I have to go through my old stuff and throw some away.
My mother always gives me a check for xmas. It’s not a big check but it’s always helpful.
Yesterday she sat down with her checkbook and was making out the checks and putting them on envelopes. She made out checks to all of her deceased bf’s grandchildren, made sure I knew whose names were being written on the envelopes by talking about each of them as she wrote out the checks.
Then yesterday when she was leaving to go to his daughters house she says to me *Oh I forgot all about you when I was writing out the checks, I don’t have one for you/ I am so sorry but I am so exhausted you don’t want me to pull out the checkbook now do you? I’m just so tired, I’m too tired to write another check but if you insist I’ll do it now but you can wait can’t you? *
Whatever mom, whatever. I am so sick of mommy games.
