I got Giants tickets!!

Every year, I go to one Giants game, and I have done this for the last four years.

This year, I decided to get tickets to the Atlanta Falcons game on October 8th.

The reasons were easy: First, I was able to get decent tickets (lower level, corner of the endzone - like, right over where the players would enter the field - 29th row) for face value at Ticketmaster.

Secondly, Atlanta is only a 5-6 hour drive from Raleigh, which is not horrible at all.

Thirdly, I THINK (unlike the Tennessee game which was second on my list of potential target games) we might actually WIN this game.

Nah…

See, the Giants - while mediocre for the past four years - have not been HORRIBLE and in fact made the playoffs one year, have LOST EVERY GAME where I have been in attendance.

Yep. Whether on the road against Carolina, Tennessee or Washington, or even at home against the friggin’ Cards (where we hadn’t lost in about a decade against), we lose.

My dad is no doubt pissed that I am trying for one for the thumb, but I mean, the odds HAVE to catch up on me, right?

Well, I’m STILL excited I’m going to the game, and if nothing else, I gave all of you Dopers a great inside wagering tip…

(In any event) GO GIANTS!!!

Also, when we get closer, I’d be interested in setting up a Doper gathering for the Saturday evening before the game… Please keep it in mind, Georgians!

Whoo hoo! I’m always happy to see those people that enjoy football getting a chance to see their team (and hopefully win)

I recently received word that I’ll be going to the Packer/Viking game at the Metrodome here. Unfortunately the Packers aren’t a good team on astroturf, but at least I get to see 'em.

Post a note before the game, and I’ll look for you when they go to the crowd shots. Will you be next to Debbie or LL? (just being a :wally )

If that’s the case Satan, could you do me a huge favor and go see them when they play the Saints some year? Hell, I’ll even pay for the damn tickets.

How much did the tickets run you? My dad, brother, and I were going to go to the 'Skins-Cowboys game in Dallas in december, but “decent” seats (lower endzone corner) were $150+. Lower level between the 40’s were $400.

Satan,

Don’t forget to piss off the Falcon fans by yelling every time Ron Dayne touches the ball. That was the tradition at Wisconsin, and it would be cool to see it carry over into the NFL. The proper yell is:

RRRRONNNNN DAYNE!

p.s. I think your Giants will make much progress this year.

I’m Bay Area so my synapses are starting to get hard-wired in some ways.

My first thought on reading the OP was “what a fool, the Giants and the Falcons don’t even play the same sport!” What kind of sports fan is he?

Of course then I realized that I am the fool.

What are you all doing talking about football during baseball season? Are you purposely trying to confuse me?

Yeah, I was about to say the same thing. “The New York GIANTS? Hate to disappoint you, but they moved out to San Francisco 'bout forty years ago…they tore down the Polo Grounds and everything.”

That’s okay. I was going to tell Satan to say hi to John and John for me.

Though the idea of the Atlanta Falcons chasing after They Might Be Giants is awfully amusing.

RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRohhhhhhhhhhhhnnnnnnnnnnnn DDDDDDDDDAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNEEEE!

I’m going to miss yelling that here in Minneapolis. That was more fun that a person would think. Satan, please keep up the tradition and train a few of your fellow grunts

D’oh, ima :wally,

the RRRRRRRRRRRonnnnnnnn part should be longer than the Dddayne.

Satan take Gazoo’s word it is a fun and worthwhile tradition. Being a Wisconsinite and a Ron Dayne fan let me say this, You got a good player on your hands!!

That being said and back to Gazoo’s point. As you are a Giants fan it probably goes without saying that you are not the least bit a Dallas fan.

My Fiancee and I were in Dallas last year for the Packer game in November and that Saturday we went to the local Gator’s for the Badger game. Holy sea of Red Batman!!
Everytime Ron got the ball the RRRRRRooonnnn Dayne chant came out. He broke Ricky(look at me) Williams of Texas’ record that day. Texans didn’t like it but screw em’. He earned it. The point being that the chant should kind of rub on them a little.

The easiest place to see the Pack is usually on the road but tickets in the marshmallow dome… Nice job rubes! That is about the only guaranteed sell out the Viqueens get!!

Psst… they have a preseason game in San Antonio next year(the Queens I mean), that can’t be a good sign.

I got them at face value. Only $41 each (plus $3 service charge for online ordering) and I am in Section 103 (CLICK ME for a seating chart) which ain’t bad at all.

Atlanta not only can’t sell playoff tickets for the Braves, they don’t know how to fill their new stadium for football either.

But that’s okay. More room for Giants fans like myself! Heh…

1996 I went to my first Giant game when they played Carolina. Got to go with my dad, who figured the last time he saw them in person was IN The Polo Grounds, so that was special, even though we squandered a halftime lead to the eventual NFC runners up to lose. We paid face value at seats so high, the blimp bumped my head (it was an 8PM ESPN game).

1997 had me take the cool trek to Tennessee. This is when they were a .500 team and we won the NFC East, so I thought we would have a chance. Drove 12 hours to Memphis, paid face value for amazing tickets (40 yard line, about 12 rows up) and finagled passes that enabled me to:

  1. Go on the field with 5:00 left in the game.
  2. Run with the players into the locker room.
  3. Hang out in the locker room! (Yes, I saw my heroes in various states of undress…)

That took the sting out of a close defeat.

1998 involved me paying $125 a ticket for very good seats to sit in the new Redskin stadium with my Dad (again) and brother (who accompanied us to Carolina but couldn’t sit near us). We were only about 6 rows up, 35 yard line. The Redskins were a team without a win at that point. Of course, we gave them their first win of the season.

Last year I picked a game I thought we really could win - at home (first time in Giants Stadium for something that wasn’t a concert) playing the Cards. Paid $135 each for really great seats. We got totally killed in Jake “The Snake” Plummer’s only good game of the year. It was ugly.

But this year will be different! Right?!? Please?!?!

(Weakly) Go Giants…

Okay, how many people saw the thread title and thought, WOO HOO, SAN FRANCISCO?!?!?!? I sure did!! So when saw rubes’ post about football, I was like, WTF?!?!?!?

DUH. I mean, DOUBLE-DUH.

I know I was too. You would think he’d want to go see a winning team, like the SF Giants. Instead he goes to a lame one like the NY Giants.
