I Guess There Needs To Be A MMP

I love the internet

Hubs isn’t a big fan of seafood, but he buys it for me to eat at home once in a while. Tonight dinner included cold cooked shrimp and GG learned that he likes shrimp even more than turkey. He worked so hard at being good that he got a cut up shrimp all of his own.

We are having a crust-less quiche tomorrow, he’ll figure out that it isn’t his birthday every day no matter how much he wishes it was!

This, so much this. Same with making cheese. People who watch us make food tend to think we are OCD*, but nobody has ever gotten sick from eating our food.

*Which should be CDO because all the letters need to be in the right order fer crying out loud.

Y;all make me chuckle. Thanks, I need it.

I  you.

Wow, you folks sure do move around a lot!
When Mrs W and I ship off to our new house, it will be my 6th home in 59 years. And I’m hoping it will be my last.

I’m on my 10th home since I finished collitch. I’ve lived in my current place 17 years and this will be my last place unless I meet landed gentry in my upcoming England trip and move over there to live on an estate.

Thanks to those who said glad I’m ok after my mud encounter. Falling is scary after a certain age.

Woo hoo! Add me to the list of wanting to see a picture when it’s done.

My move so far:
Parents’ house (they’re still there)
Four different places during university
Apartment in the U.S.
House in the U.S.
Apartment (which we bought) in CH.

Plan:
Move back to the U.S. after retirement. Might rent something temporary and then buy. Depends on when we move and where we end up living.

Beautifully sunny day today. Of course it will rain on Friday, which is the first day of a four-day weekend. Got more reading to do, due to different neighbor meetings. My German’s not so bad, but my legal German is really bad, so reading the one batch of papers is slow. The other one is technical, and that’s a lot easier.

Really looking forward to having 4 days off in a row, but I want to get some things done ahead of time so I don’t end up doing chores all 4 days.

Besides the reading, I need to place an order for American junk food , write a condolence card, make applesauce cake (and then cream cheese icing to go on top), lunch, dinner, etc.

Probably should get off the couch and do some of it.

Or I can start with the order for American junk food - I can do that from the couch.

Not to inject facts in or anything, but wasn’t a cubit defined as the distance from elbow to fingertip - yeah, just looked it up, and it’s 18", or a long cubit is 21" and that’s all I’m going to say about that.

I have never seen The Ten Commandments in its entirety. I’ve seen the beginning many times, up until Moses is sent away. Last night, I saw a bit more - meeting up with Jethro’s daughters, and later when apparently he’s married and has a kid. (Not sure what I was doing in between - surfing?) But I find the acting just too… unreal? Hokey? Forced? I don’t know. Then there’s the music - tho it was entertaining last night, as every time the score got really dramatic, FCD would make a comment about it being Conan O’Brien’s house band. But I went to bed way before it was over. Just not the sort of movie that holds my attention.

We’re going to the boat today to do stuff. One of the “stuffs” is for me to climb into the engine room and remove a panel. FCD can’t contort himself to reach the last couple of screws. He’s got plans to rearrange some things for ease of servicing and maintenance, and part of my task is to look around and give him my view of his plans. Plus I need to know where stuff is down there, just in case.

I gotta say, it’s a bit scary having him in the physical condition he’s in. I know it’s frustrating for him, but it’s scarier thinking that I may have to do things he’s always done, and I’m not sure I’m up to it. We’ll find out. I’ll get familiar with the setup, and next month, he and I are taking a marine diesel class in Annapolis. I’m hoping that makes me a bit more comfortable.

So that’s today. I’ll also move my spider plants out of the basement at last. There are no more freezing nights in the long term forecast. Do I tempt the weather gods by hoping spring has arrived at last??

Happy Sunday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 38 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 77 and N.O.S. for the day. High temps will be in the 80s durin’ the week. Weather be weird. The big plan of the day is deheathenization. It is Palm Sunday (Hosanna!) and I have Verge duty. We will start outside and process into the church house wavin’ palms and then do church. I have also agreed to take the minutes for the Vestry meetin’ afterwards. I know, I know, but the Clerk of the Vestry is out of town and she has been very good about doin’ some extra duty on Sundays which has been helpful to me, so I am returnin’ the favor. I’m all nice like that. Any need to feed today will be via forage.

Bumba glad you could crash your stolen phone. Serves 'em right!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Mooooooom, I’m another who has never seen The Ten Commandments all the way through either, and for the same reasons. I hate to say this, but there are a lot of old movies that fall into the same category for me.

I feel you on the unable to do things I used to do bit. I made the decision to not climb ladders with more than 2 steps a couple of years ago and my next apartment won’t even have a stoop if I can help it.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to play in the studio for a bit before getting ready to go heathenate.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. It’s a balmy 37 degrees this morning.
Alex Catt: < torments dog >
Gordie: < grrrrrrrrrrrrrr >
Me: “Stop tormenting the dog.”
Alex Catt: “What’s Holy Week without suffering?”

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s currently 36 degrees, cloudy and damp outside. Hello, spring.

Lessee, I moved five times as a kid, including one move to Germany and back. I’ve moved four times as an adult, and I want one more move out of the suburbs to a more rural area. I’d like some peace and quiet.

I’m glad you were able to find your phone and brick it, Bumba. That’s good news.

I managed to finish most of my chores yesterday which means today I’ve got to go out in public. Gasp!
I don’t really want to do that, but needs must. I’ll hop in the shower around 8:30 so I can take my time getting ready and be at the mall by opening. After that, I’ll go to Costco. Polar needs chicken thighs and while I’m there I’ll pick up a 35 pack of diet coke and some fruit if it looks good. Hmm, I should probably pick up some meat for my husband and me while I’m there too. For some reason, he’s been on this kick where he buys a lot of ground sirloin or sausages and I’m heartily sick of both. They have now been banned, or at least I won’t eat them, from this house. Other banned items include hotdogs, chicken strips, and frozen fish. He gets on a kick and runs them all into the ground. Also anything Jimmy Dean and frozen. Jebus. On top of that, I’ve always been super sensitive to things with high sodium content, and it’s worse now. So anything processed (looking at you Jimmy Dean breakfast crap) tastes like pure salt and has my rings squeezing the life out of my fingers within an hour. Basically, all I prefer anymore is some kind of protein like chicken or pork (not frozen) and vegetables. That’s it. I boil up eggs at the beginning of the week and have those for breakfast in the morning. If I run out of eggs, it’s plain yogurt mixed with fresh fruit and a drizzle of honey, and a banana. I do have protein bars for when I’m on the go. My poor husband is kind of at his wit’s end and he thinks I don’t any flavor. I DO like the flavor that herbs and a little salt and LITTLE pepper can impart. I do not like my food covered in coarsely ground pepper, because all I taste is the pepper, and it completely detracts from all the rest of the flavors.

The above probably makes me sound like the pickiest eater in the world. I am not; I will eat what is put in front of me when visiting someone and not say a word. However, when I’m home, I have the right to eat what I enjoy. I don’t enjoy puffing up like a blowfish and I like fresh food. It’s better and healthier anyway.

At any rate, he’s going grocery shopping tomorrow we’ll see what he brings home.

I think I’m going to finish my coffee and cruise the internet. I hope you all have a terrific day!

Y’all crack me up.

This was a great story - thanks for telling it.

I think it’s adorable that he works hard to be good. Rare, in a cat, even one susceptible to bribery.

snerk

(That’s what she said.)

Sorry. Couldn’t help it.

Abso-fricken-lutely!

Okay, time to eat some cereal, contemplate the possibility of makeup, and get goin’ into the day. Y’all go deheathenate - imma go feed people.

I worship at the altar of smoke, and meat, and blood, and sweat.

I missed the period there for a second. [Homer]Mmmmmm…sacraliscious…[/Homer]
But I’m not big on processed stuff either(and Gordie loves thighs).

Morning all. Moving a bit slow this morning from the exertions yesterday, will get a bit to eat here in a moment and see if that improves things. Still need to keep to my schedule and get to the gym later. Supposed to get to 75F today, so might be a good day to get outside…or not.

I do remember seeing The Ten Commandments once all the way through, but I was younger and more foolish those days, wouldn’t do it now.

FCM, good luck with the boat contortions.

Sunny, thanks for the Red Ant Beer story; At least the ants seemed to be happy…

OK, onward into Sunday. Everyone take care.

It is snowing outside. That’s some serious BS. I think I’m not even going to open the door today.

Back from the marina. We replaced the bow and stern lines with shorter lines after FCD installed a couple of cleats on the dock. Then he installed the devices we made for containing the lines on the forward pilings when we’re not in the slip. I think they’ll work great.

I descended into the engine room - not easy to move around there, partly because of the big-ass engine sitting right in the middle, partly because of the rest of the equipment installed, partly because the floor isn’t flat since it’s the inside of the hull. Plus not a lot of hand holds - you definitely don’t want to be grabbing a fuel strainer or a filter to steady yourself. But I got to look around and start to learn what’s where. And I got out without hurting myself, so a win all around!

Now home for max chillage.

It’s been a pretty quiet/good weekend. I think my mid-week break was very helpful. I could get used to only working on Mondays and Fridays…if it didn’t mean 60% less income.

It’s chilly, windy, and overcast today. I hear that the sun is supposed to come out this afternoon, but it’ll stay windy and on the cool side. Bleh. The 10-day forecast shows temps mostly in the 60s (and almost 80 on Wednesday!), though, so – like FCM – I will gingerly start thinking that it might actually be spring.

The stupid dog scared the crap out of me yesterday. For some reason, she didn’t want to be on the couch with me and spent all afternoon/evening on her dog bed in the second bedroom. I think it’s just that the weather was bothering her, but it’s very unusual for her to not be in the same room with me. I checked on her a couple of times, offered to take her outside, etc., but she hardly moved whenever I talked to or petted her. Then, one of the times I looked in, she was lying on her side, staring at nothing, and breathing so deeply that it was barely perceptible…and she didn’t move or even blink as I approached her. Which is not like her. I tell ya, my heart stopped for a second as I put my hand on her side to confirm she was still breathing! At that point it was around 8pm, and she’d been lying on her dog bed for six straight hours: normally I just let her do whatever, but after that mini-scare I decided it was time for the doggy to move around some so I could see if maybe she was in pain or something. I used cheese and canned chicken to finally get her up and eating, and eventually outside (where she acted totally normal). She did then jump up on the couch with me and lie down for a few minutes, but whatever had been bothering her was still bothering her and she soon went back to her dog bed. I felt better, though, knowing that she was just being weird.

Today the weather doesn’t seem to be bothering her, but she’s having some GI issues. *sigh*

Stupid dog.

I miss frozen Jimmy Dean sausage biscuits. :frowning:

Happy Sunday!

Wet and chilly 39 degrees at the dog park this morning.
Lovely Coco was there, she hasn’t been for a few weeks since her dad had eye surgery.
I feel so sorry for her, Echo and Ripple get on either side of her and chew on her face. She seems to like it though.
I know it’s my dogs’ way of saying I love you, but I’m glad they don’t do it to me.
Sometimes Ripple will nibble on my chin, but he’s very gentle.
No Barky yesterday or today because of the rain.

The big black and white cat was on the window again today. I think he wants in.
I felt for him as the wind was ruffling his fur, I wondered if he was cold.

I got a FB message from a childhood friend’s husband today letting me know that she passed away. I didn’t know she had been sick. From what he said, she survived the chemo, but the radiation was too much for her body to handle.
I know it’s probably going to be okay, but I have a bad feeling about my mother getting radiation.
My mother seems to be doing okay though. Her treatment starts this week.
We’ll see how it goes.

I can’t shake off the grumpies.
I didn’t do anything yesterday, and today isn’t looking any better.

Yeah, it was actually a big relief to me when Wifey finally realized that I wasn’t Super(Duper) man any more and there were some things I can no longer do. And yes it’s frustrating to me, too.

And while I’m thinking about it; The Ten Commandments was pretty hokey and overblown when it was new, and hasn’t gotten any better. I was never a big fan of DeMille in general though.

Need to go find some brekkie now. Y’all take care now.
