I Guess There Needs To Be A MMP

Morning all. Slept in until 9:30am, which was alright as it rained all evening and into the early morning. Heading for 69F and no more rain for today, so need to pay my water bill and visit with the Edward D. Jones financial guy in a couple of hours. Went to fix sammiches a minute ago and found I hadn’t taken the bread out of the freezer, so it’s Mac-n-Cheese for my first meal today (soup-n-sammiches will be tonight instead).

{{{OOpsie}}}. I think seeing your friends and the support group will help a lot. Sometimes there are things we can’t control, but with support we can deal. We’ll all be here, too.

OW, sorry about losing Phoenix early, sounds like you did everything possible for her. And I’d be careful about FWB; clingly can become demanding pretty quickly.

FCM, sounds like the boat has less problems than the cars…feel better soon.

shady, good luck on dealing with the minions; and I think you’re right on the frozen stuff.

Unknown, not allergic to anything much, but hope you do get to feeling better. And if not, just keep saying “tree sex” until your giggle…

Cupcakes, it’s amazing what pictures will remind us of.

All y’all have a great 2sday.

BILLY: There you are! Take this man out and flog him.

SMYTHE: Very good, Captain.

[Leaves the room. He cracks a whip, screaming as if he were really getting flogged. Goes back in.]

BILLY: Well?

SMYTHE: I flogged him, sir.

BILLY: How much did you get? [Both laugh]

Oopsie, even if you think you’re “over it” by Friday, I don’t think finding a therapist anyway would be a bad idea at all. Just my pair o’ pennies. Good luck to you.

OW, so sorry about Phoenix. Losing our 4-legged friends always hurts, no matter how long they’ve been with us.

So I got an alert from Experian to let me know that my credit rating has dropped 34 points. Why? Because somebody checked my credit rating. What a stupid-ass system.

@nightshadea- you are right on the beef freezing. Good luck convincing your aunt of that though.

@EmilyG -I don’t know the right answer to your question but in my experience the mods are pretty good natured about moving a post or question to the ‘right’ place. Go for it!

The dishwasher is fixed! The guy dispatched by the Sears warranty people found a piece of plastic in the pump and a lot of caked up soap suds, so an easy fix. I was really concerned that we were going to have to locate a replacement on very short notice, but that worry is gone.

I also learned something from the repairman. He said the biggest mistake people make is to rinse or prewash their dishes. Basically, the detergent needs something to interact with or it builds up in the washer and causes problems. It also causes a film build-up on your plates, etc. which you then ingest. So. . .scrape off the chunks and then put them in unrinsed. He also said that dishwashers with a built-in disposal don’t work as advertised. Scrape your plates.

Oh, my gawd, I slept past noon till almost 12:30. Lil’ Miss Insomnia here hasn’t slept that long in YEARS y’all.

I must have really been exhausted!

Soon-ish I must put on at least some kind of pants, and attire myself suitably for the Wally of Worlds (low standards, but still, pants would be encouraged) and get supplies for life. Water, suet cakes for the birds, tortilla chips for all this leftover queso I brought home from work …

One of my cow-orkers owed a bill to a local FBO for her flying. For whatever reason, it didn’t get paid; so they turned it over to Collections. Our Collections department! Another cow-orker called her from her office and said, ‘This is an attempt to collect a debt…’ *LOL*

I can so be miserable and laugh at the same time! Thanks for that, the most horrible part is that it is lovely outside and I want to be out on our porch enjoying it.

Oh, man, that bites. I’ve read somewhere that chicken soup really does help with colds and that the canned stuff works just fine.

I am so sorry, it doesn’t take long for them to find a place in our heart and they always take a piece of our heart when they go.

Retirement is wonderful, I hope the numbers work for you.

No advice, but lots of hugs.

The framer called last week and he had fixed my house for me. Today we are going to my favorite plant nursery, then to our fav Mexican place. I’ll pick my pieces up after we eat.

Yesterday I transplanted a root bound lavender bush and today it’s covered with green. I have my doubts the instant difference was due to the bigger pot, but whatever, I’m happy it is looking better. Plant pics will start showing up soon, I’m seeing a lot of buds
I love spring.

SIL’s surgery went well and he’s back home, as is Toby. FCD doesn’t want supper so I need to decide what I want. Maybe just a can of soup.

I have to be at their house by 6:30 since SIL isn’t supposed to do anything for 24 hours. I’ll need to get Roxy ready for school then take her to school before bringing Toby here. After tomorrow, SIL should be able to get her ready so I just need to be there to get her to school by 8. Good times…

Oh my…where am I? What day is it? We were up early on Monday to take the cats to the moggery for their holidays…explained to them who eats what and when, who jas which medication and how much…then went home to pack. Couldn’t get online LFTs early so we booked them for Monday evening. Left home at lunchtime, cab to station and train to airport, got on a plane and arrived in Dublin.

Checked in, waoied an hour, did tests and wait anxiously for negative results…faffed about unloading stuff to the test people and then to Verifly. Celebrated negativity with dinner and wine before an early night. Up at 5.30am, showered and packed, checked out by 6.10am, shuttle to the airport and in the lounge for a cup of tea by 7am!

Flew from Dublin to Heathrow, scooted through check in and security, quick lounge visit then a midday flight to New York. Now we are ensconced in the fancy lounge waiting for a flight to San Francisco, should land just before midnight.

Travel has been aixed bag. Ryanair was chaotic crap as expected, British Airways was a delight to make up for it. American Airlines was a bit cack but partially redeemed itself but we will see how our next AA flight goes :grinning::grinning:

Read much, retained little and still not quite sure what day it is!

We have an appointment with the builder to pick out all of our design elements on April 29. Somehow, just having that appointment has calmed my nerves quite a bit.

Still waiting on mortgage approval though. I have no expectation that we won’t be approved, but I hate this limbo.

boo fae, been there, done those long connections before. Hang in there and hope the JFK-SFO leg isn’t too bad.

FCM, glad SIL’s surgery went well; they do that on an out-patient basis now? Hope the Royx/Toby house isn’t a long drive.

Shoe, sometimes sleeping long is needed; I remember one trip to Amsterdam that after flying, seeing some of the city and other things, I went to bed after about 30 hours awake and was awakened by the housemaid coming in to clean the room! Did wake up then.

Cookie, thanks for the advice. Never rinse the dishes here, mostly because I’m lazy, but good to have justification for it.

Paid water bill and spend an hour with the Edward D. Jones financial guy, who was trying to get me to move more money into investments, while I was explaining that I had more money than I could spend so why do I need more? Did help out on short-term plans for my car fund (which made a grand total of $8.16 last year, so I need to do some homework and see what the best option is.

Rain is back, soccer fields are closed, so will head off to the gym shortly to work up an appetite for dinner. All y’all take care.

You ain’t kiddin’ I feel like a million bucks.

Part of it is relief - I paid (most of) my rent over the weekend, but was short over a hundred dollars. I had some unexpected extra wolves howling at my door recently.
Spent over an hour yesterday, while at a horrific shift at work, also ducking away to call management, repeatedly, to beg mercy on late fees. Never got through.
Called today, and my landlady picked up on the 1st ring. I was so flabbergasted I forgot my spiel for a second.
Since I’ve been full & on time for almost two years, she kindly agreed to waive late fees. (I felt like I owed the Mafia. “Please, I’ll have it soon, I just need a coupla days. Don’t break my kneecaps!”)

Got stuff at the Walliest of Worlds (including bread, croissant tubes, tortilla chips, and premade croissants, as I apparently needed carbs to go with my carbs) and played with my “garden” for a bit (tulips are coming up! thyme is returning!) and might have to go back to the store, because they had rainbow cake and I can’t stop thinking about it.
Also I want to roast garlic and make potato-bacon-onion hash, and just ate some scrambled eggs, and OMG SLEEP AND FOOD I can’t get enough all of a sudden, finally.

(Man, stress is a b!tch.)

ETA: oh, this is the cake:

VanGo. it has taken me years of papercrafting to manage scrap well. Now, I’m doing a paying project with a lot of it and using the rest for crafts for the kids in my heathen group.

shoe, the first place where I was a lead, my supe gave me some sage advice. She told me to document EVERYTHING. If you took a trip to the ladies’ at 7, document the time and number of sheets even. :stuck_out_tongue:

Congrats on the impending niece nut!

unknown, bees are why I carry an Epi-pen. Like you, most of the rest of the allergies are just misery whenever the trees are doing something spectacular or I’m around mold.

I’m so sorry about Phoenix OW. Skritches to Twister and hugs to you.

{{{oopsie}}}

Mooooooom, I’ve found that Mucinex free day / night pack was the way to go the last couple of times that I’ve had the flu or a cold.

Hi emily. Good to see you back!

Irked, came home in the rain, walked Nelson (slicker and all) and et. After KP, I’ll be working on a continuing organizational project in the studio.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

In my experience, if it’s still ok to eat then it can be frozen.

Moomm I hope you feel better soon.

Miss Owl I’m sorry you lost Phoenix, and glad Ruble will get his send off. I still miss him, clattering about the place, discussing knives and artillery. His memory makes me happy, but I miss him.

Oopsie It sounds like you’ve got a solid plan. Good for you for being proactive. {{{ hugs }}}

My parents are off on a 10 day trip. I’ll be watching their house and animals.

I’ve been so tired. I’m not entirely sure why, but not sleeping last night did not help. I just took a nap, and now I have that weird “I just woke up from a nap” feeling. I hate it.

Happy Tuesday everyone.

Torn ACL, and yeah - not even done in a hospital but in a surgical center near Food Lion! Same place FCD had his torn meniscus repaired some years back.

And their house is about half an hour away, depending on traffic.

MissOwl - so sorry about your kitteh. Them critters grab hold of one’s heart and won’t let go…

Jane the Cane - my daughter has started doing cross stitch! She wanted something to fill her evening hours - this is the one she’s doing. For a n00b, she seems to be doing a good job - the work looks smooth and even. All I can say is better she than me - it’s definitely a craft that I don’t wish to try.

I’ve had some spud soup, some hot tea, some toast, and some lemonade. I’m freezing and still kinda drippy, but I just took a pseudoephedrine. I’ve turned on the electric blanket, and I’ll be heading back there shortly to read till I’m unconscious. FCD has to drive to Baltimore for a Dr appt with his neurologist at 10:30 tomorrow, so I won’t see him till some time in the afternoon. It’ll just be Toby and me.

Here’s hoping I’m not going to be as sick - I hate being sick! HATE HATE HATE!!! < koff koff >

Update: the cake is delicious. I was expecting saccharine blandness, but it’s moist and tasty. Total win.

Y’know, I’ve been trying to figure out the best thing to do with the pile of cash we should have after selling the house. I think you have the right attitude. I’m going to be spending some of it to help fund college ambitions and other kid endeavors, but don’t plan to live long enough to spend it all.

Cookie Good for you. You’ve busted your rears, you might as well have some fun too.

That’s a perfect description of him - clattering about the place! It made me laugh & cry at the same time.

I didn’t sleep well last night (my brain wouldn’t stop trying to figure out a work-related thing and then how to make a co-worker understand it) so I just got up from a lovely nap with Twister T. Cat aka Twister T (her rapper name). Of course, she also has many other names - Knucklehead, Girlfriend (as in “Girlfriend, really?” when she does something stupid), Pretty Girl, Fuzzbutt, Furface, Butt Lift, Little Mooch, Meow Beast and whatever else comes out of my mouth when I’m talking to her. She’s a cat so she doesn’t answer to anything anyway!

Tomorrow & Thursday are my assigned days to be in the office - yay.

Thanks for all the kind words about Phoenix. The doctors were great and I was so sure the surgery & chemo would work. The vet who usually took care of Phoenix saw her name on the appointment list for that last visit and stayed after her shift to take care of her personally.

Well, I guess I’d better go find some dinner before my 9:00 TV show. Good night.
