Broken tags are really annoying. But what makes me really really mad are those posters who will start with a ** tag and end with a * tag. Do you want to bold the text, or italicize it? Make up your mind, you imbecile!
Good thing you never make mistakes, huh?

Nope, never.
What? I am talking about tags, not grammatical errors. Personally, I find a failed tag more annoying because it stands out like a sore thumb. And to the best of my knowledge, the form I used in the OP is correct.
And Q.E.D., Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
**It’s a lot easier to just use the “Open Tag” and “Close Tag” buttons, ensuring all tabs are closed.
How does the Close Tag button work? I tried, but it doesn’t do anything.

“Let HIM who is without sin cast the first stone” is grammatically incorrect, not to mention irony too rich to spread on toast. What you mean is “Let HE who is without sin cast the first stone.”

No, you don’t. Just looked it up, and I most humbly apologise for casting nasturtiums.
+1
???
Well, Dog80, don’t take this personally, but this is the lamest rant I have ever read. I’ve read quite a few on this board over the years and via archives, and I hereby award you the #1 Most Lame Award.
Dude, people make mistakes, and this board does not allow editing. It’s part of the charm that makes this place what it is. Everyone understands that. Except, apparently, you. Get a grip.
Tell you what, Dog80, you can be the mod whose sole job is to read every post on this board adn fix all the typoed tags. OK?
Fixing typoed words is optional.
You do realize that the broken tags aren’t a conscious choice on the part of the offending poster, right Dog80? I mean, people should preview and all, but when you’re shooting off a short reply (much like this one), there’s very little incentive to preview and make sure everything is closed up all nice and neat. I’m with Ponder–of all the things to get worked up over (and yes, you said “really really mad” and “imbecile”, so this isn’t one of those “I’m mildly annoyed” pittings), this has really got to be the lamest possible thing you could choose.
Well, no shit. My point was that tag mismatches are errors, too. And where did I claim never to make them?
Dumbass.
Way to take the high road, Q.E.D. So far, no one had gotten too personally insulting.
To Dog80: A broken link can actually affect the argument, as it prohibits us from having access to the same information at times. Usually, I can just copy and paste, fxing it as I do so. Other broken tags are merely a slight nuisance, the result of an innocent mistake.
To everyone: Rafter and straw, people!
;j
That’s not insulting? Hmm?
That was from the OP and was directed to no one particular person. I took it as hyperbole.
I suppose you could back track from his linking of your posts to that statement and interpolate it as casting aspersions on your person, but that seems like a lot of extra work.
I just don’t think such a mild and lame (yes, LAME) pitting deserves such personal insults. Loki knows how much I enjoy a good shit flinging fest, but this doesn’t seem to be the thread for it.
Still, it is the Pit…
I’m kinda on the OP’s side on this one. Whenever I include links, quotes, or tags of any sort, I always preview to make sure I didn’t mess up the coding. And if it’s a link, I always click the link in the preview pane to make sure it actually links. It appears that most posters also do this, but many do not.
But as much as I agree with the OP, I second Ponder Stibbons in voting this the lamest rant ever.
