I have highspeed net access, now what?

OK, so, I have reentered the world of highspeed internet access. I had DSL before, then when we moved and I finally got a place of my own, I had to live in the harsh realm of paying many bills. So I was on dialup. But now I have DSL again, and it’s 10 times faster than when I had DSL before. Yipee. But… I don’t feel I’m getting much mileage out of it. What fun things are there to do with the speed? The only good suggestion I could get out of my friends was Winamp TV (which is moderately fun, but you have to keep trying to reconnect to servers until a slot frees up) and newgrounds.com (which I’ve known about for years, but can’t stand the popups.)

So, in a basic form of the question, what do you do with your highspeed access that’s fun?

It depends…were you the kind of person who would use a download manager and wait twelve hours for the porn ahem video you wanted? Or are you after streaming, interactive, etc?

Streaming Interactive type stuff. I also like downloading things every now and again. Even that… ahem stuff you mentioned.

Well, the main use I have for streaming is for BBC Radio - I’ve got poor reception otherwise (in the depths of a miniscule valley). Check Radio 3 for serious classical music, and also offbeat stuff late evening…and Radio 4 at 6.30pm our time, for decent comedy

I’ll download some funny/weird crap off of sites all the while I’ll have 2 - 4 windows up for surfing. Usually one will be set up for SDMB, second one for other messageboards, one for searches, and last one for those video (not prono) sites. Ebaumsworld, etc… all at near instant refreshes. God I love broadband.

Freeware. Lots and lots of freeware: program updates, trial versions, GPLed binaries, Windows updates. Ebooks. Newsgroups. Flash cartoons, non-Flash cartoons, streaming audio, streaming video. Plus, the ability to update my websites and CafePress stores more rapidly than ever before.

And, I don’t have to warn my friends to check before sending that picture-filled email to me.

That’s what high-speed brought me.

I’ve been using usenet a lot. That seems to be another good use for highspeed.
