I hope the Red Sox kill the fucking Rockies.

Happy as I am to be in Texas, I kinda wish I could be in Kenmore Square right now…

GO SOX! (We don’t need no stinkin’ A-Rod!)

We should have bet $100 instead of $20 preseason!

Go, Sox!

::Giggling uncontrollably:::

Amen, amen, amen!!!

“Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?”

Goooooo Red Sox! W00t w00t w00t!

And Amen some more!!!

Theo, *step away * from the shiny ARod. Re-sign Lowell, dammit!!! DO IT NOW!!!

From your lips to Theo’s ears, baby!

Might I humbly point out that A-Rod is a fairly decent shortstop, and the Sox could do quite well with both of them?

(I don’t expect them to sign A-Rod, but they really don’t need to lose Lowell to do so.)

On that note:

Red Sox Rule!

He’s significantly bulkier than he was in Seattle and Texas, and he’s taken a four year vacation from playing (arguably) the most difficult position on the field. For better or worse, A-Rod’s a Third Baseman.

Granted. I would still argue that his bat would be enough of an upgrade to make up for any loss of range. He’s still got an arm, and can still catch a ball that goes in his direction. He knows the position, and could probably get back in shape for it.

That said, he’ll probably end up at third for the Cubs or Angels. But he could still play shortstop for the Sawx, if they were willing to pay for him.

But of course then the question becomes, why on earth *would * the Sox pay for ARod, when they clearly don’t need him?

Eh, I just don’t like the guy. I was thrilled to see Clemens go, because I don’t care how good he is, he’s a whiny bitch and clubhouse poison. I hate Schilling, and as long as the Sox still win, I don’t mind seeing him get hammered. I think he’s a tool. ARod is also a tool (although more on the Schilling level than the Clemens level). The Sox don’t need him, so let him take his inexplicably purple lips, his Sun-In’d locks, and his Hamburger Helper hand somewhere where he can be of use.

Because Lowell is a free agent and will be fairly expensive. Because, even assuming Lowell wants to stick around, he’ll be 34 next year and is coming off the best season of his career – he is guaranteed to decline, perhaps by a lot.

As opposed to Rodriguez who will be 33 next year, more expensive, also in decline, *and * a tool?

Thanks, I’ll still pass.

 Happy Red Sox fan here!

Unhappy Rockies fan here. :frowning:

But, congrats to the Red Sox! They outplayed, outhustled, outthought, and possibly outprayed the Rockies. A well-earned, well-deserved victory.

Hooray!!!

I’m so happy!

Baseball season is OVER!

Me too!

:frowning:

(Bolding mine)

Really? A-Rod’s in decline? Is that the argument you’re planning to make, after a season in which he finished with the highest OBP and slugging percentages of his entire career, hit 54 home runs, and probably won the MVP award going away?

Think he’s a tool if you wish, but he is pretty clearly not anything resembling in decline. Lowell is two years older than Rodriguez, and for all that he had a nice year this year, if he drops off even a little bit he’s basically just an average AL third baseman. You could literally reduce all of Rodriguez’s statistics by 20% and he’d still have a better year than Lowell had this year.

Decline?

Honey, he’s 33. He’s not getting any better, and he’s certain to start getting worse. That’s decline.

Also, tool. :stuck_out_tongue:
