Quit making dumb posts and I will.
I didn’t think the models had any say on whether or not their pictures as they appear in magazines are airbrushed (Photoshopped). Heck, even “thin” models have their pics Photoshopped to remove things the editors of a particular publication decide are undesireable; this could be anything from the reflection of studio lights in her eyes to an imagined bit of flab around her stomach.
Do you think that models really get a say in what is airbrushed and not? Times might have changed, but I spent a few years working in lad’s magazines and 99% of the time we bought the photos from photoagencies and then we retouched them. I doubt a lot of the time if people like her would know that they’re in some obscure magazine in Australia.
A lot of it is also to do with the photographer. These people specialise in bringing out the best in their subjects. That means Tyra if posing in a bathing suit with her hair covering her upper arms looks the best possible that she can, the photographer will direct her to pose like that. Not to mention a slew of stylists and make up artists.
At the end of the day, really, even with the Dove Campaign for Natural Beauty, how many photos do you think get published without some kind of enhancement?
Very, very few, I would hazard to guess.
Actually one of my friends is a fashion photographer and occasionally he has to ADD weight to models. A completely exposed ribcage isn’t that attractive and isn’t really popular for any but the most haute couture photo spreads.
I’d imagine someone as prominent in the business as Tyra would have more of a say than some random girl who wants to be in Maxim or some such, especially if it’s an article with content as opposed to, say, a picture spread.
We were in a bidding war with our closest competitors for the baywatch girls in lingerie at the height of their celebrity. Did they know they appeared in our magazine? I think not.
Photos are usually supplied along with the interviews and then they are ours to do with what we will. I have never given editorial approval to anyone. I did the photo research for a couple of “Hottest women in the world” editions, and the agencies supplied them straight to us.
We know that. Dear Lord, do we all know it. But tell us a couple more times, will ya?
Wow. Either that was really way out of left field, or I’ve missed something.
And here I was thinking thick luxurious hair was a sign of good health, and vibrant beauty. Shows what I know, eh?
LifeOnWry - I feel like I’ve missed something, too. I’m not getting where the random guest pile-on of alice is coming from, for one.
I do.
K. I’ll stay out of it. Holler if you need me.
Heigh ho, heigh ho, it’s off we go.
Moved from IMHO to the Pit.
Have fun.
It’s simply quite common for alice to comment on how lovely and gorgeous she is. Also, she’s apparently skinny, with enormous breasts. You’d think a stunner like that would have lots of friends, but she’s still posting away about what to wear on dates - which I’m sure she goes on, a lot, being such an awesome, sexy chick.
I do not think in the time I’m been lurking and posting she’s even linked to picture proof, but I might be wrong.
My point was, we all know Alice thinks she’s hot, like we know certain people are married to prison guards and others can’t go a post without mentioning their nationality or family. It gets tired.
I don’t know what noongoog is on about, but it makes just as much sense to me as it does to anyone else, which is to say, none.
“We” seem to know a lot. I’ve been here something like five friggin’ years and I couldn’t tell you who routinely says what.
Wait, I said I was staying out of this.
Right then. Bye.
I’ve taken out the trash.
You’re my hero. Perhaps I will bake you a cake.
Well, that was nice of you.
Did you remember to let the cat in?
I’d just like to say I have absolutely no affiliations with handsomebwonderful, thanks!
[hijack]Wait. I just experienced someone getting banned. Would someone please take this opportunity to explain to me how someone gets banned? Maybe using this instance as an illustrative example of exactly what kind of behavior to avoid? I’d just like to know, for future reference…
