TGIF!
BBBobbio, the time to worry is when VWife tells her doc she wants one of these so she can find out how much of a pounding the new knees can take!
I’m hoping to take one of those for a little ride over the weekend, no doubt while 'im indoors is recovering from tonight’s party and grumbling to his gnome about his hangover…
I got a curling iron last week - a really cheap one - as part of my Halloween costume. Yesterday I got a haircut but I didn’t like how blunt the ends looks, so I thought I’d try curling them a bit to see how it looked. I kinda went crazy with it at the end.
Thanks for the compliments, guys. Really, I just come here so I can feel better about myself.
I need to go to the bank, but that would involve me getting up from the couch, getting dressed, and walking. Ew.
Well, I’ve finished the work that was due today, so I’m going to shut down the 'puter now, pack up my stuff for our little trip, take Isaac out to play for a bit, and then relax for a couple of days. So you all have a good time while I’m gone – and try to behave yourselves…(I realize that’s a futile request, but because of my username I feel obligated to make it occasionally. )
 )
Does that mean we should continue stoking your ego? Because I personally find it very easy to do (and sound like I mean it!)

[**Swampy **Impersonation]Young lady, you should get off that couch right now and get your ass in gear… what you have to do at the bank won’t do itself, you know![/S. I.]
Tigs– I tried. This is hard work! :o Can I go back to misbehavin’ now? Pretty please?

Oh, and I watched Meeks’ “Bollywood does Condoms” video. Aside from being cute in a cross-cultural sort of way (I’m sure I missed 90% of the cultural cues there, though :o), it made me a bit sad to realize that not only is it noteworthy in context, it’s actually a lot more open about sex (of all kinds) and STDs etc… than I’d expect to see in a European (much less Israeli or American) sex-ed video.
We’ve all got a long way to go before we really discuss sex openly
(well, maybe I’ve got a slightly shorter way to go than most… :D)
My new migraine medication works really, really well. It doesn’t really make the pain stop, I just don’t feel it anymore. It’s just now wearing off, and I took at 8 pm last night! It’s definitely a weekend-only prescription. Consequently, this morning at work has been interesting.
Last night, in my drug induced haze (N.O.H.), I was thinking about what had changed since last year, what was I doing different, was there anything that might relate to my liver? Claritin. I started taking Claritin last year for allergies. So I stagger off to the computer, and sure enough, Claritin can cause liver problems. And then I promptly scared myself silly with the 2 cases of proven liver damage by Claritin, one of them involving a liver transplant.
I have my consult with GI Monday after next, so I’ve calmed down a bit. If it was that urgent, they would have made me come in right away.
It’s Friday AND it’s my last day as a contractor. I have orientation all day Monday and Tuesday. I’ll have benefits! Vacation time, paid holidays, insurance of all kinds, woo hoo!
I am cleaning and doing inventory of the linen closet. I hope you’re all very excited. I’m making separate shelf space for probably-useful-for-baby-sewing, upholstery and curtains fabric, useful-for-Lissla-clothes. I’m thinking that my unearthed and enormous collection of washcloths (where did they come from? I’ve never bought a washcloth) are going to be for baby-cleaning.
And there’s also a big bag of Goodwill donations.
It’s actually fun. I’d rather move stuff around than clean or tidy.
I’m sure the liver problems aren’t urgent if your appointment isn’t until next week, Blue. Still, it’s scary. (((Blue)))
:Reading a government website:
I’m sorry. ‘Transactional’ is not a real word.
Whew - glad this work week is done, but I’m not looking forward to the fiasco that will be next week. Apparently, I’m going to be briefing part of this working group thing on Weds. I don’t mind talking to groups, but I prefer to deal with material that I know. Instead, I’ll be talking to slides that I’m just researching and creating this week! As long as no one asks questions, I’m OK, but if anyone wants more details than my few bullet points, oh well…
Plus the idiot sub-team-leader can’t get it into his pin head that I am *not * qualified to field questions on chemical processes. Granted, I work with a number of people who are chemical engineers, but association does not knowledge bestow. I’ve told him at least 3 times the sum and substance of my chemical education is sophomore year Chem, circk 1977 of 78-ish. So here’s hoping no one broaches that topic.
One more bitch about the working group conference thing. I saw the agenda - it’s scheduled to run from 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM, and they’re not even letting us leave for lunch - they’re ordering in. Ten frickin’ hours in a conference with only 2 schedule breaks plus lunch. And they hinted that Wednesday is likely to be a working lunch, and that some of us may be stuck there later than 5:30. We are not amused…
Oh the other hand, it’s Friday. I need to decide what to thaw for supper. And I may play in my studio for a while later on. I’m also crocheting some pot holders for my mom to replace one of her favorites. They’re made in a circle, folded in half, and crocheted closed along the edge - they look like watermelon slices. Quick and cute. I may make a few extra to sell at my next show.
Oh yeah - and regarding cats in bed - I know it’s fall for sure - Miss Brandy curls her majestic self at the foot of our bed - where the electric blanket is the warmest. She only sleeps with us when she’s cold.
You obviously are young. Transactional analysis was all the rage in the late 70s. I even had to go to “driving school” (to prevent a ticket from going on my record) when I was 18 and learn about myself and why I went through the stop sign. Apparently my Child state was too strong for my Adult or Parent state.

I need to make dinner. I am deeply involved in my LOTR thread over in Cafe Society, though. I also have a mound of homework, housework, yard work to do this weekend. Plus, I need to re-certify for ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) for work. Piece o’ cake.
Haze–how is a curling iron part of a costume? Do tell.
Hah. I didn’t wear it or anything - my Corpse Bride costume required that I have curls for the front part of my hair, so I just bought a cheapo curler from the dollar store.
Lazy day, lovely autumn weather.
I think the website said something like, "Please note that this location is only for informationary purposes, and not transactional’. Or something like that. It meant, ‘can’t submit forms there’. I think.
Anyway, I’ll just show up at a probably okay for Employment Insurance office, and stand around looking stubborn until someone lets me know where I can submit my forms.
Driving Husband called to say he’ll be here for dinner. Our options are breakfast (bacon, pancakes, fried potatoes, eggs) or pizza. Mr. Lissar is pushing for pizza. I’m going to wait until DH arrives, and we’ll make a corporate decision.
If they meant don’t submit forms here, just say that! Gah.
Off to make dinner–steak and potatoes. Yum.
I’m tired. You know how you get tired doing thinky work more than physical work? That kind of tired.
Dinner tonight will be brought to me by a waitress, out of a kitchen. There shall be beer.
Howdy Y’all! Guess what? I don’t have to work tonight!!! YAY!!! Ok, I coulda worked tonight but chose not to. See, there’s some repair stuff goin’ on (or sump’n like that) so half the lines are down this weekend beginning with second shift today. I could have gone in and [del]farted around[/del] taken care of some “work orders” (da brewry’s cute name for busy work) or take the night off. Course I slept today so I’ll be up til all hours but I can be up til all hours with ol’ y’all know who. Anywho, it’ll be nice to wake up with him instead of waking him up when I get home in the morning. So YAY again.

I made my world famous hot macaroni salad (really that’s what the recipe is called) tonight. It’s glorified mac & cheese. It also contains ham, pimento peppers, mushrooms, black olives and onion. Sounds disgustin’ I know, but it’s actually good.
Ok, off to well, ummm… just use your imaginations.
Later Y’all!
That salad actually sounds good to me. Recipe?
Yay for VWife! Excellent work!!! (Does she know your secret orientation, btw?)
I know what you mean, MBG. I’ve been that kind of tired a lot lately.
Don’t you wish that people would just say what they mean, LiLi. And yes, I think it just means they can’t take your forms via the web.
Cute curly hair, Hank.
Glad the meds work on your migraines, Shadow. And yay for the prospect of a real job again!
I need to find someone else to go with me to the hockey game on Sunday. Little bro needs to be on a plane an hour before the game starts. Boo.
Need to go to Target and then comb through stuff at home for a white elephant. Yep, it’s gonna be a wild night chez GT.
Back later…
Yikes, Meeks, the dancing condoms! A little graphic too - I can’t imagine that being shown on American tv. (Unless we’re talking HBO or Showtime - that Californication show is very graphic!!!)
(Unless we’re talking HBO or Showtime - that Californication show is very graphic!!!)
Haze, the curls look great, and you’re so very cute. Hehee…not that I’m switching teams now, mind you, but you are very easy on the eyes, so to speak.
I got it in my head today–or rather I got a taste for a real Philly cheesesteak, and after work I rode the bus over to South Street Steaks, near the University of Maryland campus. It was opened by a trio of MD grads about 2 years ago, modeled after Jim’s Cheesesteaks on South St. in Philly, and got a cheese wit (LOL) and some cheese fries too. That was a -huge- sandwich, but quite delicious. I stopped at the grocery store and got a box of butterscotch Krimpets (Tastykake) but haven’t had one yet – had to complete the Philly trifecta.
So glad it’s the weekend! FCM, hope you have a nice, relaxing weekend and don’t think about next week until you have to. BooFae, I hope you’re having (or had by this time?) a great time at that Hallowe’en party! A belated Happy Birthday to JoeDawg too–and to his beloved UncaSwampy; hope you enjoy your time relaxing this weekend too.
