I’m from the government and I’m here with your MMP

Good luck,** Dotty**! I am awake–can’t sleep.

Goo d luck Dotti!~

I am not drunk bt… I am in a state og mind that coujldnot be considered sober. Eleveatned, if you will. But love you all, of course!!!

Just to be clear – I will be doing the OP on November 12, not tomorrow. Thanks for keeping the schedules clear, GT!

Rigs, I’m with you – sticky and sweet is good. At least sometimes. And from the looks of it, **Haze **appears to agree with us…  (Or am I just blowing smoke here…? :dubious: )

Morning, y’all! Hope you utilized your extra hour of sleep to good effect (or will utilize, for any Left Coast Mumpers still awake)

Man, I was way more tired than I thought last night! I slept pretty hard for most of 9 hours, I think. I could have slept more, but I’m too practical - if I’m too rested, I’ll have a hard time getting to sleep tonight and then getting up for work tomorrow. So I made myself get out of bed, and by the time I’d brushed my toofies, I was more or less alert. The critters have done their yard thing, kibble has been dispensed, and I’m caffeinating.

I’ve changed 5 clocks, and I know there’s one in the basement to be set back, as well as my watch and the clock in the car. With luck, I’ll catch them all before bed tonight.

Leaves and clay on today’s agenda, and crab legs for supper. **FCD ** will need to get ready for returning to the office tomorrow, and I need to psyche myself for the pending week from hell. Plus there’s the whole cold issue - it was in the 30s when I released the hounds! I should probably add “Bring in the spider plants” to my to-do list.

On to the Sunday comics - good day to you all!

I respond by telling her, “I’m not the droid you’re looking for”.

Good morning! Funny how the dogs don’t understand Daylight Savings Time, huh? They wanted me to get up at 5:00 am! So I did, and fed them and they’ve been out to potty.

I’m about to go get my third cup of caffeine. I’m wide awake and all the dogs are back to sleep again. Hmph.

Later I’m gonna try to make leftover mashed potato pancakes, and bacon and eggs. I’ve never made them, nor eaten them, so it will be a culinary adventure! My favorite kind.

Have a great day, my little mumpers!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. I slept til about seven which is well, my usual gettin’ off work time as of late. I need to try and sleep some this afternoon so’s I can stay awake most of tonight and get myself back on third shift (WHICH I HATE!!!) schedule.

I set all the clocks back last night except the teevee ones cause that happens automagically through the wonders of cable.

Ok, off to other wondrous things.

Later Y’all!

Mmmmmmmmm, potato pancakes. My great grandma used to make really good ones. She made ones with rice too. I’ve never been able to duplicate either of them. (Although I’ve made some good potato pancakes…)

Hope your first day back went well, Dotty.

Yay, we have a volunteer for the 12th!! And didn’t have to twist any arms or anything…

I woke up a couple of times, but seem to have slept in, more or less.

I’m about to go in to church to check out the garden. I’m sure there’s more clean-up to be done there.

Lots of stuff to do today…

Back later…

GT

Yum. Potato pancakes.

Tell us about Georgian food after your adventure, Haze. I’ve never had it. Sounds interesting.
Up and about to have breakfast before lazily drifting off towards Mass. The time change is just lovely. And this afternoon I have my last shift! Yay!

Yup, MT was on Jeopardy. I was there! I’m sure she’ll check out that thread as soon as she gets back home and online.

I really need to make actual shopping lists when I’m driving 80 miles to shop. I forgot a couple of things I really wanted to look for. But weather permitting I’ll head down again the next time I get paid, in a couple of weeks. I did get a nice set of toasty warm flannel sheets for $30 at Costco. I love flannel sheets, and they’re really practical up here.

We should have some extra help this next week; a friend of The Boss. She’s great, she’s helped out before. Og knows we need anybody we can get!

Go-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-od moo-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-r-r-r-r-r-ning everyone!

I’m up and drinking my go juice. I was soooo tired last night, but couldn’t sleep for crap. I’ve actually been wide awake since about 5:00 am (yes that accounts for time set back). I got up about 6:30.

We went out for Mexican with some friends last night, and from dinner went to the casino. I had carne asada and Mr. Taters had pollo en crema. My carne asada was pretty decent, but he wasn’t too impressed with his dinner.

At any rate, we didn’t win a damn thing gambling. At one point, I was up to $45.00 dollars on one of my tickets. It started out at at $20.00. I ended up bring that ticket down to $29.00. I had $2.50 left on another ticket, and a penny left on the last ticket, which I blew on a penny machine. The hubby quickly blew through all of his tickets. I played on that first ticket for quite some time, though. After, I pulled it out though, and started using other tickets, it was just lose, lose, lose.

Mr. Taters wanted to blow another hundred bucks, but I was a meanie (y?) and said no. I offered to give him my tickets, but he declined. So, we left the casino at a little after 9:00 pm. I know our friends were disappointed, but really, we just don’t enjoy losing money. We weren’t getting ANYTHING, so it was time to just quit. It’s a good thing we go only a couple, three times a year.

Happy belated birthday wishes to FCD. I’m glad you found a restaurant you can both enjoy FCM.

My Dad dropped by yesterday with his treat from Europe for us. He brought us a box of Belgian chocolate. It’s very, very, very, very good. I’m trying to be a good girl and just have a couple of pieces a day.

I love potato pancakes. I grew up eating those and still enjoy them. I grew up eating them with applesauce on top, which my husband just finds weird. I like it. I’ve made them from scratch (which I prefer), but sometimes I cheat and use the box mix.

I don’t think I have any plans for today; at least I hope not.

Tomorrow is my MIL’s surgery, so good wishes would be appreciated. We have to be there at 7:30 in the morning, but her surgery won’t start until after 9:00.

I should take some meats out of the freezer to defrost.

ETA: WOOO-HOOO FIRST ON PAGE 8!. I’m never first.

Evening all!

I survived my first day back at work, although apparently Noor didn’t have much fun at daycare. :frowning: Hubby picked her up early 'cause he was worried about getting out of work in time to collect her - she was sitting on her own in a corner crying. All the daycare workers were apparently “busy” with other children. So, we are back to “Square One” - HRH will go to MIL’s house to be babysat by FIL and the housemaid until MIL comes home from work, then hubby will pick Noor up after he finishes work. At least they won’t ignore her when she’s upset or tired!

Anyway, I will leave the rest for tomorrow’s OP. I am gonna finish reading the MMP then cruise the Dope for a bit and finish getting my litany ready for tomorrow!

ETA: Happy Belated Birthday FCD and good thoughts headed out for Taters’ MIL.

Morning, all. Well, we’re back from our donation to the Borgata casino in Atlantic City. :frowning: But we did get a free room and a couple of free and insanely good buffets – dinner and breakfast – out of the deal, so it wasn’t all bad. Plus they have the best showers – seriously, the first thing we do when we get there is stand under the shower. Just loverly!

As expected, the Idiots were spoiled rotten at Sandy the Dogsitter’s. We shall definitely use her services again. They had been delivered home and were there waiting for us, trying to convince us they’d been cruelly abused. As if! Needless to say, we know better.

I’m sorry Noor’s first day at day care didn’t go well, Dotty. :frowning:

Yes, I was on Jeopardy. I’ll check out the thread. I actually had seen the ads calling all former contestants, and went so far as to check out the page. I just don’t know what to tell them. It didn’t change my life in any significant way, but it sure was damn fun! I’ll have to think on it some more.

Nothing else exciting is going on around here. Just back to work; I’ve got lots of congressional [del]drivel[/del] hearings due Tuesday a.m., so I guess that’s what I’ll be doing. Until this evening – then the Amazing Race starts again! Yay! I am such a Phil phan.

MamaT–did you win any money? That is so cool that you were on it.
Dotty–That is TERRIBLE. How do you ignore a baby crying? What the hell?
    :frowning:

I don’t even like my MIL, but I have always been grateful that she and FIL were there to help with the kids. I did use another babysitter for awhile–private, in her home. (dunno if that’s done there). Poor HRH. Poor YOU!

Need to get some stuff done. I posted a question to the class bb re this homework–I just don’t get it. I wish it were something easy, like discussing literary theory or running a code, bt it’s cataloging. Essentially it’s a code–and if you don’t put things in the right spot, then it screws everything up. Sadly, it’s not all that easy to find which spots things should go in. Think of it as writing computer software code. Kill me now.

Damn. I forgot to [del]bore[/del] tell you all about my dreams last night. I had a dream I was watching a youtube (but also on a bb) about Australia, and then I WAS in Oz. I was in a hole in the ground, with 5 other women. It was a nice, below ground house. I shared a room with Joan Lunden (?). Anyway, these older women (some were nurses, some librarians) took me up to the surface at dawn. It was marvelous–I can’t even describe the beauty of the landscape I saw. I told them so and said I thought that Australia was mostly desert. And they said, nope.

There’s alot more involving making bacon correctly, strange beasts chasing me on the beach–they move by a whomping motion-they’re slimey and make odd gargling, screaming sounds. Scarey as hell…

Dotty, I’m sorry to read that Noor had such a rough time at daycare.

Well, the rest of the family is finally awake. The peace and quiet was nice while it lasted.

Nothing interesting of note going on here.

Okay. Yesterday my mouse (as in computer) decided to die. I hate the pad thingy on the computer because it’s really weird and touchy and sometimes seems to click on stuff all by itself, whether I wanted it to or not. This is…irritating. I’ll manage until I can get another mouse, but it’s going to irritate me every time I use my computer, which is a lot.

I didn’t win money, Rigs – I lost to a 5-time champion (back when you had a limit of 5 wins) on her 5th day; she’s still the all-time second highest female money-winner on Jeopardy. But I also lost back in the days when they were giving prizes instead of cash to the losers, so I won a trip to Ireland. Which was a wonderful trip, and ultimately was a far better prize than just cash; if I’d won money, I would have just used it to pay bills or something boring, but with the trip, I had no choice but to go. Aw, shucks.

There’s a bunch of Dopers who have been on Jeopardy; I’m not even a one-time champion, unlike some who have won a whole bunch, so I’m just a lowly peon on the list. But hey, even a lowly peon who’s been on Jeopardy is something! Or so I keep telling myself, anyway. :dubious:

Is the rodent that died a cordless mouse, snowbunny? I can’t remember. You know, you can always plug in a corded one temporarily. You should be able to find one of them for next to nothing locally, even if it’s not your first choice. Or there’s always mail order, as you should be learning, living as far off the beaten track as you do now!

Go check out the Imagne-ry Doper thread, all. It’s fun!

Well, I just got back from a 1 mile walk. Hooray for me! (First attempt at exercise in at least 6 months) Got back home and someone had closed the garage door. In reality, it didn’t matter because they had left the side door open and my car, with a garage door opener, was here and unlocked. But I didn’t know both of those at the time. So, I promptly burst into tears when I saw the door was closed.

Damn depression, F You!

It was good. And there was a LOT of it. We had bread, cheese pastries, some eggplant roast thing stuffed with nut sauce (served cold - weird!), bean salad, some curry-like chicken sauce, cold sturgeon, and lamb and pork roasted with cedar. And lots of sweet red wine. Pretty awesome, I tell you. We could barely move afterwards.

My friends want me to take them to a Korean restaurant next. I feel like I have to be an ambassador or something - the pressure is killing me.
