I need some new tunes, man!

That’s not half-bad; I like the last two songs.

“Acquired taste” - by poking your eardrums out so you can’t tell how bad the lead singer is? :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve been listening to “The Spectrum” on my Sirius satellite radio and have discovered the following bands:

The Lumineers
Of Monsters and Men
The Black Keys

I’m a huge Dave Matthews Band fan but have been disappointed with their last couple of albums so I was in a bit of a musical “rut”.

Enjoy

Atomic Fireballs - Man With the Hex - I like it!

I like “Zoot Suit Riot” by Cherry Poppin’ Daddies - I think I might need more Big Band in my collection.

I’ll see your Jack White, and raise you a Colin James.

I seem to like most anything from Bruno Mars, Matchbox 20, Train, Josh Groban ( I AM a Grobie!) and Goo Goo Dolls. Really. They all have good tunes.

How the hell did these guys slip under my radar this long? Yow!

The Heavy reminds me of Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears. Or vice versa. “Black Joe Lewis” is a helluva guitar player.

Download the album “All Day” by Girl talk ( that goes for all of you! ). It’s free on his web site and it has everything! He does mash ups. I have been listening to this album non stop, multiple times a day, since I downloaded it from his web site months ago.

It’s free, so you have nothing to lose. All the songs are good, but try “This is the remix” or “on and on” for representative samples.
He mixes the background music from famous, good, rock / classic rock / pop songs and overlays it with vocals from various rap songs so that it synchs up perfectly. It might sound lame or like desecration, or that it’s nothing new, but it really comes out amazing and is more than the sum of its parts.

E.g - Check out the first one ( “On and On”), the first minute is Eric Clapton 's music overlayed with vocals by Biggie Smalls. And the song changes every minute so if you don’t like one part, a completely different one will soon arise.

The second one (“This Is The Remix”) has an awesome part a couple minutes in where he does "Cecilia " by Simon and Garfunkel.

Alright, I’ve done enough proselytizing for the day. I probably sound like a paid shill, but I just get really into (listening to) music and have been loving this album and all the cool, wonderful things it’s made me feel.

PS - I am not crazy, despite what my previous post and its superfluous exclamation points may have led you to believe. I just like Girltalk and think he makes cool mash ups. And I’m glad all the people who tried to sue him apparently haven’t stopped him.

I’ll have to listen to some of these when I get home tonight. My favorite all-time mash-up was the background music of Yes’s “Owner of a Lonely Heart” and the vocals of Sir Mix-a-Lot’s “Baby Got Back.” It was titled “Owner of a Lovely Butt.”

This is a new favorite for me. Talahina Sky by Kings of Leon.

Plastic Cup - Low

It may be a bit too mellow for you, but damn do I love them.

Thrift Shop - Macklemore and Lewis

Super popular this winter and the music and lyrics are darn catchy in my opinion.

Well, I’ve listened to a selection of these artists now; not my cup of tea. Too straight-ahead rock and roll with no interesting hooks. Sorry.

YESSSS! Only 1:14 into that first link, and I already hear a little bit of Ke$ha’s “TiK ToK.” I knew my curiosity would be rewarded.

Sorry, what I found on Youtube is kind of blah to me. Do you have any particular songs that you could recommend?

I like this. I think it’s going on my to be purchased list.

Sorry, it’s not doing anything for me. Different strokes for different folks, eh.

I like The Lumineers and Of Monsters and Men; I’m pretty sure I already have some Black Keys - ah yes, I have “Tighten Up.”

Yeah, that’s on my list now.

If you like a Springsteen/Petty feel, maybe try The Hold Steady. The rock feels like Petty, but the lyrics are heavily influenced by Bob Dylan.
