In the Israel/Gaza/Hijacks thread, he has managed to put forth the most amoral argument in a thread where there’s a LOT of competition: what Israel is doing is abhorrent, but since it is not within the USA’s power to immediately and completely stop them from doing it, there is no reason for Americans to care about it at all.

Dr. Dumbass came out with this gem of a hijack in the thread about whether there were any areas in which the Japanese navy was superior to the U.S. navy in WWII:
You see, it was the Poles’ fault for not giving in to Hitler and provoking him so that he invaded their country.(apparently, the Poles should have negotiated like the Czechs and avoided future problems). 
Nice that he gives Hitler some credit for precipitating WWII.
This is DD’s pattern, he reads a book and takes a claim (or imagines one*) and decides that the historical consensus is wrong and his daring interpretation is correct.
*DD pulled this before in arguing that the French were at least equally responsible with Imperial Germany for starting WWI, despite the Germans launching the invasion of Belgium and France. He stopped repeating that nonsense when another poster documented that he’d thoroughly misrepresented the book from which he drew his “evidence”. Now he’s re-inventing the outbreak of WWII.
At least he doesn’t appear to be misrepresenting Taylor’s ludicrous attempt at whitewashing Hitler’s war aims.
I’m glad he stopped, but these assertions about Poland are bizarre
Sigh. Lots of folks make pointless posts I suppose, but when he does it I wince. This pearl of wisdom regarding aftermarket automobile sunroofs:

Even allowing for the possibility that he could be wrong seems uncharacteristic of him though. He’s usually more likely to provide a “cite” that contradicts what he’s saying and then double-down when that’s pointed out.
I don’t understand why he so frequently comments on posts with a terse “Yep” or “^This” or “Exactly,” as if the poster is waiting for his seal of approval.
It’s okay to have an unexpressed thought. And the mods should give him a “mind you” ban.
He is definitely one of those older gents who think their unsolicited, poorly remembered, and usually wrong input provides not only value but conclusive and definitive weight to the topic at hand.
In an odd way, it actually is valuable. If you just assume everything he posts is wrong without even looking at it, your batting average would be pretty good.
No other poster managed to prove that I misrepresented The Sleepwalkers. France Declared on Germany one day before Germany Declared on France. Since the invasion of Belgium occurred after the war started, it could hardly be the cause of the Great War, now could it? Yes, The French were responsible for starting WW1, so were the Germans, the Austrians, the Russians and the Serbs. You can likely throw the British in there, somewhere, even. They were all Imperialistic nations who assumed war was inevitable- so it was.
But you know, if you were not a coward, you could have started a thread in Great Debates about the causes of the Great war- but of course you just put your cowardly tale between your legs and slunk off to the Pit instead, knowing that in any non- Pit thread, you would lose.
Because some years ago, in a thread posters all told me I never replied to their posts except to disagree, and they did not like that. Now, you are saying you do not like people to agree with your posts. Make up your damn mind.
No one cares about your opinion if all you can add to the conversation is “Yep.” It’s not like anyone is waiting and wondering “What will DrDeth think of what I wrote!!?”
To be fair, in most systems (including the default setup of discourse) you can click the “like” button if you especially like someone else’s post. The SDMB disabled that functionality, and i often miss it.
It’s also handy if you ask a question and someone answers it. No need to clutter the thread, just like the posts that were helpful.
Then again, I wonder if we add a Reddit style “like/dislike” if he’ll only post a fraction of the time.

He’s done it again in the FQ thread about scientific consensus. He claimed that we’re still at the tail end of an ice age. When corrected on this false statement (we’ve been in an inter-glacial period for nearly 12,000 years) he drags out a NASA document that uses some of the same words but is actually talking about something completely different, a fact which he failed to grasp. I expect the good doctor to be doubling down any time now.
And here it is! 
We can be in an an inter-glacial period- which we are- and TECHICALLY still be in a “Ice age”.
Translation: “I used some words in my post. I Googled a NASA article that used similar words. This proves that I was right! I’m always right Facts and contexts don’t matter.”
I don’t remember ever seeing a poster so fucking obstinate, but we’ve probably had a few.
