If you’ve been on the internet since 1999 you should know lying is not the same thing as trolling and this attention is not the kind of attention umkay is looking for.
Oh, that “worth sharing” thing has never stopped me (and most of us, come to think of it…).
BTW, I think we should deputize someone to scour teh webs to find sezyoo/umkay’s next appearance. The fun could live on and on…

I think it would be interesting to try and think of what board culture **umyoo **is going to jump to next.
It has to be somewhere that there isn’t a lot of overlap between here, and less importantly (because she deleted her posts there) mommy boards.
What do people think?

I hope she finds a good one, because without pretending to be a perky quadriplegic on a message board, life has no meaning.

Aw man. I was hoping for a confession from notokay or news that the troll did indeed suffer a SCI this weekend partying with bankers, and is reapplying for membership on the board. Because that would be okay, right?

This whole soap opera has been gripping and I have to admit, I bought a ticket early and strapped in for the ride. I stayed with it right through the melodramatic death notice from the Lesser Of Two Trolls. I dutifully posted my condolences and have cringed ever since at my gullibility.
But in the end, they’re only pixels on a screen so I’m not so much pissed at being duped as I am fascinated by the psychology of the umkay troll.
I really wish he/sh/it could be allowed to start a true AMA: “I am a Whack-job Who Pretends To Be a Quadriplegic On Multiple Internet Forums, and Researches It So Thoroughly That I Nearly Fool Actual, Real People With Spinal Cord Injuries - AMA”
I mean, I’d like to know how this person functions in society. Do they have to keep this obsession bottled up within them? Is there a community of people that have this pretender disorder? Where do they learn all this prurient stuff about bladder and bowel “programs”?
The only thing I know about spinal cord injury, through the one quadriplegic guy who was my neighbor (before he passed from pneumonia), was that most in his situation struggle like hell to arrange inadequate attendant care through shitty agencies and get nickle-and-dimed by insurance companies for the stuff they need to live, so they live close to the financial edge even if they started out comfortable. So one last kick at umkay’s virtual corpse for painting a picture of a wealthy life with registered nurses at her/its beck and call 24/7.
I once posted that Umkay would make an excellent lawyer or politician or something like that.
I stand by that assessment even more strongly today than I did when I said it.
(Sorry to the lawyers and politicians on this board, I’m sure these kinds of jokes get old)
I was one of the people doing off-board research and it led me to a message board for devotees. I’m scarred enough from that experience to not want to do additional research on pretenders, but I’m quite sure there must be something out there.
Also umkay had referenced .apparelyzed.com a couple of times, so clearly s/he knew where to get firsthand info.
I used to be a member of that board. :rolleyes: Not the best source of info, let me tell you. I mean sure, it’s full of members who have a SCI but all the info is anecdotal. I could go on for hours about my issues with that board; but that’s a whole different story…
This would be the most interesting thread ever, and part of me was hoping for that long shot before the banning.
Seriously as interesting as I found Umkay to be, the real person has to be even more so. It’s not just that she knew a lot of information, but damn she played a role as well as most method actors. Of course hindsight being 20/20 I now see the tells, but it’s still an impressive performance. With that amount of effort he/she had to have much more motivation than boredom, and whatever that motive may be is incredibly strange and foreign to me.
The one thing that put the doubt in my head at the time was how perfectly composed and edited she was was for someone operating with such supposed limitations. Ultimately though I had to trust what I heard from her and others around here about how sophisticated the voice recognition software was and such, I should have trusted my gut on that one.
One more thing I keep wondering about, how sure are we that NotOkay was the same person? Has that been determined one way or another that I missed? The NotOkay post just seemed too sloppy for her so I’m inclined to think it was someone from here just trying to stir up drama with a high fun/effort ratio. It doesn’t seem like a fake death would have been the endgame there, and surely she would know that an attempt at it would immediately put her on the suspect list, Even she said it cast a weird light on her time here as if she really was undercut by it. Of course that in itself could have been another crazy layer, and the timing with her being gone for a few days is somewhat suspicious.
Anyhow it looks like the show is wrapping up, but I still have my fingers crossed.
Nitpick: we’re on the 20th page; we have not yet gone 20 pages. Don’t give up now!
