There’s Jesse’s solution - move to England and be miserable and left alone. 
Opal greatly annoyed many people with her, “No, that won’t work either” schtick, to the point where they wouldn’t bother responding to her in a thread. Jesse is going down that path, where people just won’t bother with him after a while. Maybe that’s what he’s aiming for.
This a classic example of the game , “Why Don’t You – Yes But”, first described and explained by Eric Berne. (you would have to read a lot more than that excerpt to fully understand it).
It’s a never ending game. Usually.
You got me curious (thanks), so I googled it. This was pretty helpful, and there are plenty of other sites out there that give good info.
I wouldn’t say Opal is revered exactly, but she was (and is) a fixture of this community and has been since its AOL days. She annoyed the crap out of me, but at least she was entertaining while she was doing it.

Thanks. I told her about this thread, and as I suspected, she found it rather hilarious. She said “he sounds like one bitch-ass punk,” and then a bunch of words I don’t think we’re supposed to use even in the Pit. 
Yes, and she has every right to be angry because she is living her life as best she can and has so little of it and here’s this guy who has life and doesn’t appreciate it.
It is more proof that life is, indeed, incredibly unfair sometimes and people get dealt lousy hands that they must play as they are.

I find it amusing (hilarious even!) that you told the girl about this thread. Haha I wish the best for her, as much as is possible, anyway.
Wonder why psychotherapy “didn’t work”? Psychotherapy had about as much chance as Butch and Sundance rushing out into that Bolivian plaza!
Probably his clients wouldn’t be real alcoholics, just people trying to drink enough to deal with their relatives. Real alcoholics are sleeping off their hangovers at 8 am, dreaming horrible dreams of being employed.
The snark forums greatly exaggerate the amount of reverence people had for Opal. She was an interesting person, more interesting than our OP here, but everyone was annoyed by her from time to time, and nobody revered her.
I’ve been in early opening bars a time or two. Mostly it’s night shift workers. Maybe some are alcoholics too but it has more to do with their schedule.
Listen, if you want a girlfriend, you don’t need to change your negativity; just master the guitar or learn how to sing. Negative normal people = whiny. Negative creative people = tortured. Women flock to tortured souls.
There’s a bar on Pittsburgh’s south side that opens in the early morning (Joe’s?). I had to check opening out a few times. Lots of shift workers, some troubled souls, and me.
My cousin’s bar in Phoenix opens at 6 am for night shift workers. It is kinda strange to be interacting with people whose daily cycle is twelve hours off of your own.
There are a couple of bars here that open early (after 7 am per state law) for night shift workers.
And another thing - it should be, “I pit people who accuse me of being “negative.””
That is not why they opened early (they normally open at 11AM and it’s an affluent suburb with few shift workers). There was a special holiday “do” downtown and they wanted to (cash in) provide as a public service breakfast Bloody Marys for the crowd. And to help their regulars prepare for a day with their families, if they still have families that speak to them.
One thing I have noticed in 15+ years working is that even the most scummy alcoholic junky criminal losers all have girlfriends. So I’m either saying that there is someone for everyone or Jesse should become a scummy alcoholic junky criminal loser. I’m not sure which.
