Generally speaking, I find Shodan annoying in political threads but reasonable elsewhere.
I take “Regards, Shodan” to mean, “We can disagree, but still be civil.”

I think there’s a difference between:
setting out to do something specifically because it annoys
vs
not ceasing a thing you have always done, after you are informed that it annoys
I mean, I don’t like the ‘regards’ thing myself, but sometimes, when you find yourself faced with criticism of the kind “Could you stop doing that innocuous thing you do, because it annoys me”, a perfectly valid response is “Nope.”. We can’t always be beholden to everyone’s bullshit sensitivities.

And here I opened the thread hoping this was about Shodan complaining to the powers that be that Idle Thoughts had spoken about him on another board (positively but that doesn’t seem to matter) and started a chain of event that caused Idle to say fuck it and leave the SDMB.
