Shodan is an example of a double standard around here: Republicans can get away with being jackasses, because the mods know that if they banned all the jackass Republicans, there wouldn’t be any left. They’re the world’s most annoying endangered species.
As long as the Republicans can act all shocked and wounded when called on their jackassery, the mods leave them be. And then the GOPpers have the temerity to get all high and mighty when any other group uses weakness to its advantage.
Of course, in the real world, Good Christian Republicans are the only persecuted majority group, so I guess we can’t expect any honesty or logic, just an endless bleating whine on the tunes of “I’m not touching you!” and “MOMMY HE WAS MEAN TO ME!”

He was active on comp.lang.c of all places. Yes, a Usenet newsgroup dedicated to the C programming language. Great place to learn the language, home to a few insane trolls.
He was also on alt.os.linux.slackware, about the Slackware Linux distribution. Just a completely random bunch of groups.
This rule is particularly important, because it also saves X from potentially being uncomfortable if he ever happens to read here. It’s kind of a two-fer.
