I have to say, though, that your reason for resigning fills me with foreboding.
I don’t suppose there is a mechanism by which your resignation might be refused? Popular demand, that sort of thing?
Not that I know of- they’re probably too smart to give it a second go

It’s not the fact of Giraffe stepping down as a moderator, it’s the reason for it that has people worried.
Frankly, I’m more than a little impressed that Giraffe lasted this long - There’s a burnout arc imposed by moderating any forum, and The Pit is a very challenging venue. Giraffe has set the standard for the role of Jackbooted Pit Mod, and it’s a standard that will stand the test of time.

Giraffe was by far the best mod here. He’s actually an intelligent likable character who often cracked me up. The other mods range from just awful to pretty good. Giraffe was grrrrrreeeat!

Interesting that of all the thousands of human dopers and quite a few human mods, it took a giraffe to moderate the pit.
Somehow missed this thread until now, but let me add to the chorus. Giraffe, IMO, has been one of the best mods this board has ever had. At least we’ll still get to read his highly enjoyable writing from time to time.

How exactly do you moderate in The Pit? Isn’t that a lot like the Maytag repair man?
