I find it fascinating that the list of “Forum Leaders” shows fluiddruid no longer moderating the Pit, yet still shows Giraffe as still modding the Pit.

My name was also removed pretty much the moment I quit IMHO, and my title changed as well. I think this indicates great interest in talking Giraffe around, and frankly, my wondering resides solely in what they are trying to talk Giraffe around to.
That does it. I am stepping down as moderator of the pit.

Welcome back Giraffe. 
So, what is Giraffe still moderating? Not listed as a mod in any of the forums, but still has the “moderator” title.
I went ice fishing once. I’d left something in the truck, and had to go back and get it. I walked into a patch where there’d been some thawing and it had just recently frozen over again. Picture a good foot or so of ice, with an inch of water above it, and then a thin crust of ice on top of that. It’s safe, you’re only going to drop an inch, but you don’t know that when you step onto that thin crust and hear the ice underneath you start to crack. It was quite an experience.
I just had that same feeling.
Thank you both for your sterling work in very difficult circumstances.
Are you stepping down for basically the same reasons as Giraffe or different ones?
Very sorry to hear it Giraffe. You’ve been my favorite moderator, of any forum, on SDMB.
Both Giraffe and fluiddruid? This is a major bummer 
I pretty much never care about the revolving door of moderators, but this time, yeah, I’m pretty bummed out. And count me in among those who aren’t thrilled at the thought of Ed taking over the forum himself.
Thanks guys. Great job. As a moderator of over 5 years over two forums myself, I am equal parts jealous and sad. There’s not many people who can do this job as well as the two of you have.
