They say you know when somebody is really good at something because the make it look easy. The Pit under your guidance ran smoothly and well yet your presence was scarcely felt, and I just want to say that your lack of presence will be sorely missed.
Thirded. I’m marking my calendar, with yesterday as the day the SDMB took its first giant step towards Hell. Or maybe the opening of the handbasket.
I certainly wonder what these will be. It is kind of like anticipating a trainwreck, in a way. Maybe we won’t be allowed to curse anymore. Maybe we’ll only be allowed to post messages like “Condolences about your unfortunate situation” or “Indeed, I can certainly see why you are outraged by this news article”. Maybe he’ll turn the Pit into another of his money-spinning ideas!

Giraffe, we don’t really know each other, but I’ve read your modding quite a bit and the boards will be worse in your absence.
Also, the list of Moderators shows you also modding IMHO – is this correct, or a mistake?

What could possibly go wrong? I am absolutely certain that nobody can name a single instance, in any medium, where a decision by TPTB to ignore the posters/readers/listeners/viewers and impose their own vision, however sharply divergent from what has come before, has ever resulted in any problems.
Even if that unlikely event were to occur, I’m equally sure that the subtle and diplomatic approach the Admins have perfected will dissolve any resistance.
Further, one must only look at the millions of other ten year old forums where the good faith of another poster can be assumed to realize just how non-special the SDMB is, and how much it could benefit from a good top down shakeup.
If major changes are in the offing, I can only hope that the board retains its sterling record of speed and seamless integration of promised change.
Crap. As others have noted, that’s unfortunate. If these “changes” are enough to make you quit then they’re probably very bad news.
Ed, take notice. You have posters from all different walks of life who generally argue with each other (vehemently) about any little frickin’ thing – ALL agreeing that you have just lost one of your best mods.
Please let that give you some pause.
